Taeler, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey into social media marketing was anything but planned. I was working the front desk at a salon while studying advertising and journalism at Kansas State University when I overheard a conversation with the owner of the salon about social media. Without hesitation, I jumped in, took over the salon’s accounts, and before I knew it, I became their full-time marketing and social media manager.

At the time, I was pregnant, just dropped out of college, and working full-time as the salon’s marketing director.

But life threw me a heartbreaking curveball. I lost my first child at 28 weeks. That moment changed everything. It was a wake-up call to stop playing small, stop waiting for the “right time,” and start chasing my dreams fearlessly.

Six months later, I launched Kai Strategic Media—named after him—which became the fire that fuels everything I do.

Over the past six years, I’ve built a thriving client base, moved to Kansas City, and took a break to be a stay-at-home mom for my rainbow baby Golden for two years.

Now, I’m back, bolder than ever, and fully focused on luxury home builders—where I dive deep into strategic marketing for high-ticket, custom projects. This is where I thrive, and I’m just getting started!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Oh, absolutely not! The road has been anything but smooth. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that you can’t say yes to everyone—whether that’s clients, opportunities, or even people in your life.

Growth requires hard choices, and sometimes that means letting go of relationships that no longer align with your vision.

Success takes serious mental strength, and part of that is surrounding yourself with people who are on the same journey, who push you to be better.

It’s a tough lesson to learn—and an even harder one to act on—but once you do, everything starts to shift in the right direction.

That’s exactly why I teamed up with Jamia James to co-own KC Business Besties—because surrounding yourself with powerhouse entrepreneurs who actually get it is a total game-changer. Networking is great, but building real friendships with like-minded go-getters? That’s where the magic happens.
