Exploring Life & Business with Stephanie Stipanovich of Tauke Speech Therapy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Stipanovich.

Hi Stephanie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey into speech-language pathology began in middle school, when I first discovered the beauty of sign language. What started as a curiosity quickly became a passion, and I continued learning throughout college. I had met and shadowed a few SLPs before, but as a brand-new freshman, I still wasn’t sure what career path was right for me.

That changed when I took a careers class designed to help students explore their options. We completed questionnaires about our interests, strengths, and personality traits, and every single one came back with the same top result—Speech-Language Pathologist. It felt like the universe was telling me I’d found my calling.

I went on to earn my Bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Northern Iowa, then moved to Missouri to complete my Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Central Missouri. My first big adventure as an SLP took me south to Arizona—partly for the career opportunities, and partly because I was ready to trade snowy winters for warm, sunny days!

I started Tauke Speech Therapy, LLC in 2020 in sunny Arizona after seeing a need for compassionate, in-home speech and feeding therapy. Three years later, my husband and I returned “home” to Kansas City—bringing that same passion for personalized, patient-centered care to the community where our own story began.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road to creating this business was anything but easy. As a speech-language pathologist, I had no idea how to start—let alone run—a business. But what I did have was drive: the determination to learn, grow, and stretch my skills far beyond the speech-language pathology box.

Building the company from the ground up was a challenge. Rebuilding it after relocating to a brand-new city? That was a challenge all its own. But every hurdle has shaped Tauke Speech Therapy into what it is today—a practice built on resilience, passion, and an unwavering commitment to the people we serve.
