Exploring Life & Business with Shelley Armato of Mysmartplans

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shelley Armato.

Shelley Armato

Thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, how did you get started?
Suffering a huge financial setback on a large government construction project, I solved the biggest challenge: collaboration, trusted data, and defending contracts. I started my business after my husband was asked to support a project; he was required to bond the project; this process involves securing all your assets as a guarantee you will finish the project. My husband’s company was the largest sub-contractor in KC; he ran a union paint shop for over 40 years, and his business was a generational company. I decided to take my power and transform the industry; I bootstrapped my business for 18 years, reclaiming what was stolen from us. While it took years for my husband to stand, his family was disappointed in his decision to close the business; I stood for both of us. We have stopped construction litigation, allowing all stakeholders to have a “seat” at the table, and owners can now “get what they paid for.”

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Men: tall white men. We stopped the change order games, which challenged all the “practices ” of cheating, lying, and stealing. I have had to learn to find my voice and stand where I was not welcome. I learned to be bold, courageous, and kind all at the same time!

As you know, we’re big fans of Mysmartplans. What can you tell our readers who might need to be more familiar with the brand?
Mysmartplans is a tech-enabled solution. Our platform acts as a distribution hub third party organizes and delivers real-time knowledge to the project.

What’s next?
Plans include global delivery transformation. I applied and accepted the position of construction czar for the United States of America. I know what needs to be in the contract, what needs to be delivered to the projects, and how to protect the assets of the projects.
