Today we’d like to introduce you to Shala Broils-Johnson.
Hi Shala, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started my company because of the skin issues my family was having. The store bought soaps and skincare was not helping and was still drying out our skin. I have always had eczema and it was so uncomfortable so we needed some solutions.
I went to school to be a Pharmacy Technician because I wanted to learn skills in a trade. I was taught how to compound medications, prepare IV bags, crash carts and filling prescriptions. My favorite thing to do was compounding medications that would aid and assist with skin issues and topical skin treatments.
I took the skills and the knowledge and applied it to making skincare for my family and eventually started Nefer Amore LLC.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting a business is hard work and has not been a smooth road but one but I have an attitude of gratitude. Yes, I have had struggles and wanted to quit and throw in the towel. Many night of staying up late coming up with formulas and studying skincare methods. Some of the things that I know now about business I had to learn on my own. As well as attend business classes at the University of Phoenix. Jumping out there and starting a company was the best decision I made.
Being a small business owner has its up and downs, from financial issues to thinking no one will support, people who don’t think you will make it, sleepless nights, anxiety and struggles.
I will forever be proud of myself for sticking in there and keeping my dream alive. It truly helps when you have a loving and supportive husband, children, parents and siblings that support and helping you up when you feel like giving up.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Nefer Amore is an all-natural holistic skincare company that specializes in all skin types and hues. Nefer Amore specializes in skincare for eczema, psoriasis, seborrheic dermatitis, acne, hives, wing worm and, dry skin and overall moisture.
Everything that Nefer Amore makes is all Earth based and natural. I believe that whatever you put in your skin sinks into your pores. Issues such as chronic disease may occur if the product is made with synthetic and unnatural products.
Nefer Amore offers natural soap bars, facial cleansing products, healing oils for the face and body, yoni wash (intimate vaginal wash) skin detox, body scrubs, hot oils treatments, beard care, sanitizers and detoxing foot & bath soaks. Every product I make is made with time and so much love.
I always chat with my customers via my website about any skin issues and what products would be best for healing. I offer full and half loafs of soaps for our customers so they can buy in bulk.
I also offer special orders for some of my customers because of their certain skin issues. In that case, a special invoice is sent to the customer to pay. Soon Nefer Amore will offer monthly subscriptions on certain products and skincare sets.
I am proud of all of the skincare products because of the different ways it heals and moisturizes the skin because it leaves the customers happy and always coming to Nefer Amore for their skincare needs.
My husband and I want to get back to throwing events that showcase our business and other local business owners. That way, my customers can have a chance to meet me in person. The event is called “Nefer Amore’s pop-up shop” We had so many local vendors attend and it is always a great time with networking. We had our last event in March 2020 right before the pandemic hit. We will start the planning of our next event really soon.

My husband has been one of the biggest supporters. Not only does he help finance Nefer Amore but he also helps with making products and quality control. He is big in the marketing department. I love that he will test my products out and give me honest feedback. Nothing like having a partner that is there for you all the way through
My parents and sisters have also played a major part with Nefer Amore. They always support me by helping me with any events, letting me use their face to show off my products and most importantly, they purchase from me all the time because my skincare really works for them.
My children are always there rooting for me; they help me out in a big way as well. They are the reason for making amazing skincare.
I have to say that a lot of the community have always supported me at any event that I was had or set up at. I love them for that and they know who they are.
