Today we’d like to introduce you to Paige Stewart.
Hi Paige, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started my floral design business in 2019 after moving to Missouri from Florida and finishing high school! My interest quickly sparked for entrepreneurship and business my senior year of high school when I took an entrepreneurship course! I quickly exceeded and won a scholarship directly from my teacher to pursue it through college. However, the reason I enjoyed the idea of entrepreneurship so much was because it meant I could go a different route than school because I was not an A+ student and never enjoyed school! After moving to MO, I took 2 semesters of college courses on entrepreneurship with the scholarship and worked as hard as possible those 2 semesters so I didn’t have to come back! I took our final project very seriously, which was to create a business model of something I would enjoy doing and write a business plan! So, this is where I created Paige’s Petals. I started out with little to no knowledge but a whole lot of drive to succeed. I began researching the market and reaching out to local florists to learn from them! I began small and very unprepared but with the help of my family, who each own their own businesses we quickly figured it out! I said “yes” to every opportunity and now I have been doing flowers full time for weddings and events for over a year! There have definitely been some learning curves and struggles (especially in 2020) along the way but never did I think that my college project would turn into my career and my dream job!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has definitely never been a smooth road. When I started the business in 2019, we had many growing pains and many stressful events because of my lack of experience. This was where I learned what I was good at and what I needed to improve in! As we all know, 2020 brought many unexpected events which directly affected us! I had been doing flowers part-time and working part-time when I lost my part-time job due to the pandemic. Which ended up being a blessing in disguise, because I had been afraid of making the jump to full time with flowers. 2020 was a year of growth and learning as much as possible, taking on challenging jobs and doing things that scared me. Throughout 2020 I lost a few bookings and lots of postponed events due to the pandemic so it taught me to adapt to new situations and how to be creative while instilling new procedures of a business.

Paige’s Petals is a Floral Design business specializing in Weddings and Events! We offer a wide variety of services and can do just about anything you ask! We stand apart from many businesses because while we have our own style, we can easily cater to our clients’ styles to give them their dream wedding and help their specific visions come to life! We stand apart from other florists because while we specialize in weddings and events, we also offer monthly subscriptions, daily deliveries, and gift-able arrangements on our online website so that whether you’ve booked an event with us or not you can still receive beautiful flowers from us throughout the year!
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I believe a positive attitude is the most important quality we can have as a business; it makes everyone feel much more excited and it makes wedding/event planning much more fun and smoother when we can offer a positive attitude over a stressed out and overwhelmed attitude! Wedding planning is supposed to be fun, not overwhelming! By doing this, we create a safe space for conversations and this is how we have built relationships with each of our clients!
