Today we’d like to introduce you to Mehtab Qazi.
Hi Mehtab, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
For me, I feel like the idea of being an event designer and planner really started in 2018. That year, I got married in June, my brother got married in August and my younger brother got married a year later. I was very involved in the planning and design of all three weddings and that’s where I discovered my passion and love for event design.
From imagination to creation, to visualization, and finally implementation, each step has unique challenges, but the final product is so satisfying and I want to be able to take my experiences and my passion for design and planning and share it with others and bring them happiness and joy to their own event.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
When starting a new business, it’s never a smooth road. We just moved to the area so getting a strong social presence in a new city is always a challenge! Also for the first three months or so we were living out of a small rental so storing a lot of our inventory proved challenging! And of course, we can’t forget about Covid!
But I think as we move forward, those struggles will lead to more opportunities!
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about M&A Designs?
M&A started back in 2018. M-Mehtab and A-Aadil. Two young kids who met in the most hopeless place (the internet), fell in love and started pursuing our dreams. M-always had that creative drive and to simply put it, she loved to love. It was the driving factor to M loving what she does every day.
We strive to create an individualized and unique experience for every client. We specialize in bringing a modern touch to elegant design, mixing a lot of traditional design elements with newer more modern elements making each event space a unique experience for the host and the attendees.
Something I would like the readers to know is that I understand and appreciate how personal an event can be. I don’t answer to anyone else and I don’t have any incentive to rush the process. I value curating each event to each client’s specific needs. I am most at ease when we take our time and develop a well-laid out plan that the client is happy with.
Something that we are proud of, and something that separates us from others, is our philanthropical mission that goes along with each event. Giving back to our community, our people, and our world is something we strive to do. We donate a percentage of all revenue to the community and give our clients the option of where they want the proceeds to go. We like to think that the best way to start your event is by giving back first.
What do you think about luck?
I don’t really label things as “bad luck”. Every challenge, obstacle, or hurdle is an opportunity to learn, grow and improve and I find that way of thinking to be valuable in this kind of business.
As for good luck – we had a few options of where we were going to move to and Kansas City was not a place that we had initially thought of, but we are very lucky to be in this amazing city and part of an extraordinary community and I can’t wait to explore all the options and opportunities that come with this city!
