Today we’d like to introduce you to Leslie Smith.
Hi Leslie , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey really began when my son was young and experiencing some behavioral challenges, while I was searching for ways to help him. I realized that to help him, I first needed to find calm and grounding within myself, and that led me to mindfulness & yoga. Through these practices, I discovered not only how to support him but also how to reconnect with my own inner peace and presence. I learned that when I show up as my whole, joyful, loved self that I am teaching him to do the same through the way I embody peace and ease.
That experience opened the door to a much deeper calling. I began exploring plant medicine, shadow work, somatics, sound healing and transformational coaching, diving into what it truly means to live in alignment and harmony. Over time, it became clear that this work wasn’t just for me; it was something I was meant to share, as there is so much dissonance in our world, internal and external.
Today, through The Mindful Living Movement and Flow Fest, I help guide humanity and our planet helping the collective to release fear, competition, and discord and live in harmony inside and out. I’ve learned that our purpose isn’t to be perfect, but to come home to ourselves again and again, because that’s where wholeness, freedom, and joy reside.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but it’s been an incredibly meaningful and fulfilling one.
Like many of us, I had to move through my own layers of pain, self-doubt, and conditioning (a never ending journey). There were times I lost myself in the roles I played, as a mother, a partner, and a woman trying to meet everyone’s expectations. I faced periods of anxiety, depression, and burnout, and those moments became some of my greatest teachers.
Learning to slow down, to truly listen to my body and heart, and to honor my truth, that was the turning point. Each challenge brought me closer to authenticity and deepened my capacity to hold space for others.
The struggles reminded me that healing isn’t linear; it’s a spiral. We return to the same lessons again and again, each time with more compassion and awareness. And that understanding has shaped not only who I am but how I serve, helping others remember that even in the messy moments, we are still on the path home to ourselves.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m the founder of The Mindful Living Movement, where we create wellness events in the heart of our community, bringing healing, connection, and conscious living directly to the spaces where people live, work, and gather. Our approach, which we call “wellness without walls,” makes wellness accessible and alive, integrating yoga, sound healing, mindfulness, and holistic practices into real-world locations.
From this vision, we created Flow Fest SGF, a signature holistic wellness festival designed to celebrate connection, movement, and conscious, holistic living. Flow Fest brings local healers, holistic health centered businesses, and wellness seekers together in a shared space of inspiration and embodiment, reminding participants that wellness is not just a personal journey, it’s a collective experience.
At the heart of our work is the belief that when we live consciously, show up authentically, and connect deeply, we elevate not just ourselves, but the energy and wellbeing of our entire community and planet.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
While The Mindful Living Movement and Flow Fest are rooted in our local community just two hours outside the city, we see ourselves as an extension of the wider regional wellness community. Our events are designed as intentional escapes , accessible retreats from the everyday hustle, where people from the city and beyond can come together to recharge, connect, and immerse themselves in conscious living. We believe that meaningful connection and transformation don’t have to stay local; our goal is to build bridges between communities and bring wellness, inspiration, and heart-centered experiences to everyone willing to make the journey. “We are all walking each other home.” ~ Ram Dass
