Exploring Life & Business with Lena Jones of Graze & Gather KC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lena Jones.

Hi Lena, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Graze & Gather KC was a pandemic baby, if you will! After losing my job during the shut down, I had no idea where life was leading me. I started creating charcuterie boards for my friends and family, just for fun. My sister was the one who said, “Why aren’t you making this your job?” I was hesitant, because who in their right mind starts a business in the middle of a pandemic? But… I decided to take a leap, and business has taken off way faster than I expected.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I think the biggest struggle I’ve faced has been self doubt. Wondering if I’m too young (22 when I started), worrying that my work isn’t good/unique enough, and being scared to price “too high”. It’s really easy to let one bad day get you down, when starting something new. Thankfully, customers have been so amazing! They really make it all worth it and their words of encouragement get me through the hard days.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I dreamed of being an entrepreneur as a child! Growing up I would charge my parents for spa treatments, run lemonade stands, and create business ideas. I always knew I wanted to own my own business, I just didn’t know what kind. The possibilities seemed endless!
