Exploring Life & Business with Kyra Wiggins of The Radical Empath

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kyra Wiggins

Hi Kyra, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started off as a massage therapist 18 years ago, graduating from Heritage College here in Kansas City. I spent the first half of my career working in every environment in the industry that I could; corporate chains, salons, barbershops, chiropractic offices and integrated healthcare facilities. This is where I learnt the industry inside and out and even managed a massage wing of a business, which aided in my understanding of the administrative side as well. Through these experiences, I developed the tools and the confidence needed to start my first massage therapy business, back in 2014 while living in Huntsville, AL. There were alot of firsts for me while living in Alabama, like taking my first Reiki class which started me on a very intense journey of healing and understand how energy works within the physical body. Within two years, I completed the series of Reiki studies to become a certified Reiki Master, relocated back to Kansas City and opened my first local massage therapy business in downtown Olathe, KS in November of 2017. I spent the next 7 years perfecting my craft by integrating energy healing into my massage therapy services, all while still actively on my healing journey. This journey has taken me all around the world to learn various techniques in different healing modalities. I’ve studies under Masters from Spain, Peru, Guatemala, Mexico, India and even Thailand to get a deeper understanding of my inner truth in order to shift my own frequency with the intention of increasing my health and to be able to hold space to teach others how to do the same for themselves. It wasn’t until 2024 that I really started doing things to bring more awareness to my business, like competing in a entrepreneur reality pitch competition show called The Blox (Season 12) & interviewing on KCTV5 locally during one of their Representation Matters Segments. Nearly two decades of growth, expansion and integrating my understanding into my work has resulted in me finally relocating The Radical Empath back home to Kansas City. As of February 2025, you can now find me in the Waldo area at The Arbor Vitae Yoga & Wellness Center where I provide a variety of holistic services to help others awaken their authenticity and regain their ancestral understanding of existence. The foundation of The Radical Empath is built on my work of breaking generational strongholds within my leniage and therefore being capable of holding loving space while I help others do the same. A wise woman once told me, you can only meet others as far as you have met yourself.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Every journey has obstacles, it builds character but I quickly realized during introspection that my biggest obstacle had been myself or at least the preconceived idea of who I should be and how I should operate. For example, I had this very calculated mindset of how running a business should be, all logical, but overtime I realized that with me running a business of heart centered based services, I had to allow my heart to show even in my business principles. I had to find harmony between the logic and the love flowing through myself and my buisness, allowing room for both to not only be visible but be felt. Allowing myself to be seen for who I am was also a struggle for me; the spiritual way of life it not widely accepting by society so shifting my business from just a massage practice to a spiritual based service practice was scary at first and yes, making that shift costed me to lose some clients. However, now on the other side of that shift, I understand that this was a necessary step in the process of my growth because the clients I have now love me for who I am and they appreciate the services I now provide. I had to stop showing up the way I thought would attract more clients, from a financial stance, and allow the clients that align with my truth to find me; the law of attraction. This required me to stand authentically in my truth and allow myself to be seen unapologetically. As I grow, expand and release parts of me that aren’t my truth, my business grows and expands with me, in my truth. Learning how to ride the waves and trusting the process was hard at first. I’m now in flow with the ebbs and flow of this journey and I know I’m capable of taking on any new obstacle that comes my way.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I AM the radical empath. As an empath I’m able to feel my clients discomfort on my body and I’m able to help them understand their own discomfort deeper. Not only in a physical capacity but also in an emotional or mental disharmony capacity by educating the clients on their blockages within their energy body. I specialize in the energetic awareness of one’s current state and I’m able to guide one through the process of removing blockages which in turn results in shifting from one energetic state to another. Once a change is made within the energy body, the mental body, emotional body and physical body has the capacity to shift and change as well in alignment with the energetic changes made. The Radical Empath is where energy and mind-body connects in an effort to awaken one’s authentic self that lives beneathe all that you have experienced in this lifetime. It is a safe space to be vulnerable in moments of hard truths while being guided by a loving hand through the navigation of the process of change and self expansion. I provide one on one sessions for energetic shifting for those who are already familiar with the healing art. For those who want an introductory experience to the healing art, I have massage therapy services that are infused with energy healing; meaning I get the client grounded before utilzing massage to break up the energetic blockages while relaxing the physical tissues and then I utilize energetic flushing to aid in an internal shift while working the muscular system of the body externally. The newest service I provide is energetic awareness and shifting in a group setting via holistic retreats; my first retreat will be March 14-19, 2025 in Liberty, MO. March of 2026 I will be hosting another retreat in the Blue Ridge Mountain Range of Boone, N.C. The plan is to work my way up to international retreats with destinations like Belize and Bali in mind, once I fine tune my retreat offerings.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My biggest support system has been my family. First my biological family has been credical in the process of starting and sustaining my business. I am a single mom to a 8 year old boy and my family has created an environment for me to be able to be an entrepreneur and my son not feel the void of my absence when I’m working; from my grandmother Betty, to my mom Kelli, to my sisters, Kayla, Kim & Ky, to his grandmother Debbie and to the male role models in my son’s life, his Uncle Mike, Uncle Royce & his Godfather Dominic, I truly appreciate the time and love they have all showered my son with and the ease they have brought to my mom guilt when I need to focus on my business. Second, I want to give credit to my second family, my clients who have adopted me into their lives and their hearts. My clients have now become family to me; over eight years I have built relationships with many of them; I’ve gotten to witness some graduate from school, get married and even have kids. A special thank you goes out to all those who were able to relocate with me from Olathe to Kansas City. Such a big move could have definitely been detrimental to my life since this is my only income but my clients have supported me so much so that I’ve still been able to cover all my expenses even in my first month of the move. I love the supportive community that I have now built around me; I would like to think this is a testament and reflection of the love I give out coming back in return. Last but not least, I want to give credit to my spirtual family. Ever since I master the art of tapping into my inner wisdom, I have been held, supported and guided so divinely by my ancestors that I feel very confident in my capacity for whats to come in the future. I have no fear of what’s next with God & my guides walking with me. As long as I’m walking intentionally in my purpose, I’ll always be right where I’m suppose to be. Being supported by all three of these branches of ‘family’ within my life, has helped me to create a life of ease and abundance. I am forever grateful and thankful for my family; born into, cultivated and ancestral.
