Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamie Ruth.
Hi Jamie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started out working as a receptionist at a salon when I was in high-school. After working there for 3 years , and after watching the stylists there, decided that being a hairstylist was what I wanted to do. I have now been doing hair for over 20 years and am currently the owner and a hairstylist at Marshel’s Hair & Nail Studio in Blue Springs. I have been a stylist here for almost 14 years and the owner for over 3 years.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I’ve definitely faced my share of obstacles over the years as both a hairstylist and a salon owner, but I’m grateful for the journey. Along the way, I’ve been fortunate to have incredible mentors who have guided and inspired me, as well as clients and coworkers who’ve become lifelong friends. Those relationships have not only helped me overcome challenges but have also made this career so rewarding.

MarShel’s Hair & Nail Studio is a full-service salon dedicated to helping our clients look and feel their best. We offer a wide range of services, including haircuts, custom color, perms, smoothing and conditioning treatments, hair extensions, facial waxing, spray tans, and a variety of nail services. More than just a place to get your hair or nails done, our salon is designed to be a welcoming space where clients feel at home and completely comfortable. We take pride in creating an inviting atmosphere that makes every visit a relaxing and enjoyable experience.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
MarShel’s Hair & Nail Studio has been proud to serve our community for over 20 years, and we wouldn’t be here without the incredible support of our clients, friends, and family. We’re especially thankful for the original owners who started this salon and laid the foundation for what it has become today. We’re also deeply grateful for the talented staff who’ve supported us and shared their passion throughout the years—their dedication has helped shape the welcoming salon we are today.
