Today we’d like to introduce you to Hunter Shantz.
Hi Hunter, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in the industry (mom was a RE broker and dad was a builder) but after college moved to KC and started auditing Real estate contracts, that naturally progressed me into getting my license and selling real estate. Having the background in construction, rentals, and real estate, really helped me fast track the learning curve and be an expert in my field at such a early age (relatively). It is hard to sit across from 40-60 year old home owner or home buyer individuals as a 20 something kid unless you really know what you are talking about, and you really have to show your value in the first 5 mins because they are already doubting what you know since you are so young. That has propelled me into now almost 10 years in the business and my business has never been better, I focus on residential, commercial, and investor real estate transactions.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No absolutely not smooth – my first two or three years I was making almost no money. It was hard to learn how to talk and show my worth as a 23 year old kid. I had to learn to show value quickly and be confident in what I was talking about. But once I was able to do that it kind of unlocked a next level of my business.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We do more than just list and sell houses—we guide people through one of the biggest transitions of their lives with clarity, strategy, and care.
We specialize in residential sales across the Kansas City metro, with a particular focus on helping homeowners maximize value when selling and match buyers to homes that truly fit their lifestyle. What sets us apart is our local expertise and marketing approach: we blend strong market analysis with standout listing presentations, professional photography, and tailored strategies that showcase each home as an experience—not just another property.
We’re known for being approachable, transparent, and results-driven. Clients often say we make the process feel less overwhelming and more empowering. Our brand reflects that—we’re not about cookie-cutter real estate, but about creating solutions that work for each family, investor, or first-time buyer we serve.
What we’re most proud of is the trust our clients place in us and the repeat/referral business that has built our reputation. To us, that’s the highest measure of success.
If there’s one thing we want readers to know, it’s that Hunter Homes is built on relationships, not transactions. Whether you’re buying, selling, investing, or just curious about your home’s value, our commitment is the same: personalized guidance, smart strategy, and a smooth experience from start to finish.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I was outgoing and played sports. I played college football at Arkansas State University. I grew up on about 20 acres in Southeast MO, in a town of about 40K people, so it was a little slower pace of life than the city, which I really enjoyed. Kind of country, kind of sporty, just your normal midwestern kid honestly.
