Exploring Life & Business with Hailey Dry of Hailey Rose Photography & KC Gowns

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hailey Dry.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
It started during the pandemic, I was home with my newborn son and quickly realized that the average 9-5 was not for me. My husband bought me my first camera in November 2020 & I went full time with photography in March 2021. I started with Christmas mini sessions, I took demo photos at a local Christmas tree farm & had 25 families sign up. In July 2021, I opened my second business KC Gowns, which is franchised from Utah Gowns. It’s a dress rental company that I run out of my house in Johnson County.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The main reason why my time being a business owner has been trying, is due to the fact that I miss out on so much and barely see my family. My husband and I work opposite schedules & I am constantly gone in the evenings when my son gets home from daycare before bedtime.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Hailey Rose Photography/ KC Gowns?
I am a photographer and have started another company called KC Gowns, a local gown rental company. I specialize in couples, proposals, engagements, and weddings. I am known for my bubbly personality and always trying to make my photoshoots into a fun date. You can ask any of my clients, they ALWAYS have fun during a shoot with me. I am most proud of being a published photographer less than 6 months into my career. I was published in March 2021 for an engagement photo to the Unscripted for Photographers App. I was also published by WedKC magazine. I would love readers to know that the way I conduct my shoots is more of a fun date atmosphere, I send questionnaires to get to know my clients before the shoot, I have a ton of poses and prompts that are full of movement, very fun and fluid. I am not a fan of “sit and smile at the camera” photography, some people enjoy it…but to me, there’s no fun or real emotion in images like that. I enjoy meaningful, storytelling, genuine captured moments.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
I am a boy mom, a wife, a dog mom, a photographer, a gown renter, but to be super cheesy I’m just a girl that chased her dreams.
