Exploring Life & Business with Eden Holt of The Connection Effect

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eden Holt.

Hi Eden, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I had an unorthodox journey of becoming an empowerment and personal coach. As a teenager aging out of the foster care system, I dreamed of helping kids and young people that have experienced some of the same adversities. My goal was to become a psychologist and focus on providing therapeutic support to kids and families in the foster care system. After many years focused on that goal, I lost my connection to my mission and found myself shifting my intentions towards strengthening my purpose, which was to help people use their voices to heal from their past and thrive in their future. I transitioned my degree program from psychology to intercultural and diversity communications. This gave me valuable insight into learning to hear diverse voices from across the globe, from different cultures and backgrounds. It ultimately served to be the catalyst for my pursuit of becoming a certified life coach.

I continued gaining valuable skills and knowledge through certifications to serve my clients during our coaching sessions better. I formed The Connection Effect as a practice of helping clients reconnect to themselves so they can better connect to their purpose. My purpose in this life was to help struggling people find their voice and feel empowered to use it. Through this journey, I have arrived at where I knew I always wanted to exist. To hear and to see my clients where they are and to empower them to be more authentically and joyfully connected in their lives.

I serve my clients through 1:1 coaching and in-person or virtual sessions. I often go to their homes or meet them for coffee or tea. I offer the same services to my clients who have chosen to work together for three or nine months. We focus on setting goals, working through obstacles they face, and accountability strategies that will lead them to successfully complete their chosen coaching program. My clients know they will always have someone to guide them through their goals and continually empower them to grow into their best version.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
This has been a challenging road. If anything, it has proven how strong a person must be to transition from one lifestyle to another. I have experienced doubts, fears, and insecurities alongside joy, excitement, and overwhelming gratitude. Life and personal coaches are often seen as substandard to many professional careers due to the myriad of beliefs and standards set by associations outside these certification processes. This can create doubt and insecurities about whether or not this is a valid career. Overcoming these objections forced me to value the knowledge and skills that I have and the ability to give access to guidance and support to clients that they may otherwise not have.

We’ve been impressed with The Connection Effect, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I can credit many close friends and colleagues that saw my potential long before I did. However, none are more exemplary than any others. I truly am grateful for all of the support and encouragement along the way.
