Today we’d like to introduce you to Earstin Sanders.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’ve been in the bbq business all my life. My grandfather started operating a barbecue restaurant in Portland,Ak.back in 1944 and he passed the sauce recipe to my mother and my mother had a restaurant located in Rockford Illinois and she passed the recipe down to me. I decided to have the sauce bottled back in 2019 and after I launched the sauce business, my wife decided to invest in a food truck in order to become our own distributor of sauce and to actually serve a full menu of smoked meats as well as the sauce.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
We’ve had some ups and downs in the barbecue business but I think overall it has not been as difficult as other businesses given the fact that we have a barbecue business and Kansas City is the barbecue capital of the world. Product placement has been the most difficult but we have managed to land the sauce in a few local stores. Fritz meat’s, Thriftway, and Happy Foods just to name few.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Aunt Mildred’s #10 LLC.?
We specialize in smoked meats. We’ve been in business for six years in the Kansas City area. What sets us apart from most Kansas City barbecue establishments is the fact that we have a southern style barbecue sauce which is a tomato based sweeter barbecue sauce then the Midwest barbecue sauce.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
That’s kind of difficult to say but at the top of the top of the list would be hanging out with friends playing basketball in the park and also playing sports at school.
