Exploring Life & Business with DeVione Branscumb of Style Vs Fashion StylingCo

Today we’d like to introduce you to DeVione Branscumb.

Hi DeVione, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Redefining Style from the Inside Out: The Journey of Style Coaching

“Style is about growth, not perfection.”
—DeVione Branscumb

In a world where fashion trends change rapidly, DeVione Branscumb stands out by focusing on something more enduring—authentic self-expression. As a certified Style Coach and founder of Style Vs Fashion StylingCo, she’s transforming lives from the inside out with her method of style coaching. Combining the art of personal styling with the science of life coaching.

FINDING PURPOSE THROUGH STYLE
DeVione’s story begins with a calling, not a career. She wasn’t drawn to fashion for fame or runways—but for the power it holds to transform lives.

“When people feel good on the inside, it reflects on the outside. My job is to connect the two,” she shares.

She pursued certification from the Style Coaching Institute in London, becoming one of only twelve licensed graduates in the U.S.—and the first in the Kansas City region. Her unique blend of personal styling and life coaching became the foundation for her movement.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Success may look polished on the outside, but DeVione’s journey has been anything but smooth. Like many entrepreneurs driven by purpose, she faced several hurdles that tested her resilience, clarity, and commitment.

1. Introducing a New Concept in an Unfamiliar Market
As one of the certified Style Coaches in the country and the very first in Kansas City, DeVione entered an industry that didn’t fully understand what a Style Coach was.

“I had to educate people constantly—Style Coaching isn’t just about clothes. It’s about confidence, identity, and transformation.”

Breaking through that initial confusion required not only persistence, but creativity. She had to build her brand while defining the very role she was trying to introduce to her audience.

2. Wearing All the Hats as a Founder
Starting Style Vs Fashion StylingCo meant being the stylist, coach, marketer, administrator, content creator, and sometimes, even IT support. Balancing the business side with the creative and coaching elements stretched her time and energy thin.

“There were times I felt overwhelmed, but I reminded myself of the mission—I wasn’t doing this for vanity, I was doing it to empower people.”

3. Financial Pressures & Growth Pains
Like many women entrepreneurs, DeVione started her business without major investors or funding. Every client, every service, every dollar mattered. Managing finances, investing in her training, and scaling her offerings while remaining authentic was one of the biggest challenges early on.

“I had to get comfortable with slow, intentional growth instead of fast, flashy success.”

4. Doubt, Isolation, and Imposter Syndrome
When you’re paving a new path, it’s easy to feel alone. DeVione often found herself questioning if she was qualified enough, experienced enough, or “fashionable” enough to stand in the same space as traditional stylists and image consultants.

“There were moments when I wondered if I was dreaming too big—but each time a client left transformed, it reaffirmed that I was exactly where I was supposed to be.”

As you know, we’re big fans of Style Vs Fashion StylingCo . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?

LOOKING AHEAD: The Future of Style Coaching & Fashion
DeVione is clear: the future of fashion is personal, purposeful, and holistic.

“We’re moving away from surface-level styling and into transformation-based experiences. People don’t just want to look good—they want to feel aligned.”

Here are the key trends and shifts DeVione sees shaping the next decade:

1. Style Coaching Will Go Mainstream
As more people invest in mental wellness, personal growth, and authenticity, style coaching will rise in demand. Clients will seek professionals who don’t just style wardrobes—but help them align their image with their identity.

“Style coaching is no longer a luxury—it’s becoming a necessity for personal branding and confidence.”

2. Technology & Virtual Styling Will Expand
With AI-driven wardrobe apps, virtual fittings, and personal stylists accessible from your phone, the industry is going digital fast. DeVione believes this opens doors for inclusivity and reach—but also requires a more personal, human-centered touch.

“Tech is amazing, but people still crave real connection and trusted guidance. The best style brands will use both.”

3. Whether you’re a CEO, entrepreneur, content creator, or student—how you show up visually will impact how you’re perceived. Style will continue to play a major role in leadership, visibility, and self-marketing.

“You are your brand, whether you realize it or not. How you present yourself is your first business card.”
