Exploring Life & Business with Daniel Bogaard of VIVO LIVE, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Bogaard.

Alright, thank you for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us how you got started?
I partnered with Cory O’meara and Stratgazer last fall, and things started to take off. I created VIVO Live Events as the Director of Business Development for Gametime District in March of 2021. I have years of experience booking bands in previous positions, so I was excited to utilize my skill sets in this area. We were mainly focused on cover bands at the time. Many of the original acts were coming out of the pandemic. In March of 2022, I purchased VIVO. In May of 2022, my Sound Engineer, Andrew Nagorski, came on board as a co-owner and business partner. Since then, VIVO has become “The People’s Venue.” We book everything. From Metal to Hip Hop and Death Metal to Punk, we have done numerous national touring acts and provided the local scene with a home!

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Creating a venue in the middle of a pandemic has been the greatest obstacle of my career. I was fortunate in the early going to have very supportive and amazing owners of the venue who supported the vision for VIVO. Without them, VIVO would have failed. But getting people back into the habit of going out to see a show, being in large groups of people as well as – with the current economic climate – having the means to do so have all served as formidable obstacles.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
VIVO was coined as “The People’s Venue” by numerous fans who come back to see their favorite bands. After hearing it a few times, it just stuck. We are a venue that doesn’t discriminate. We’ve held Metal, Hip Hop, Dance Cover Band, Death Metal, and a Punk show in five days. It’s a safe environment with amazing food, friendly people, great drinks, and plenty of parking run by the best sound engineer in the city who operates with a 20k sound system. Truly ready to blast off!

What was your favorite childhood memory?
Many childhood memories are formed by music. My first concert was with Elton John in 1984 with my parents. Growing up in Denver, I was blessed to see concerts at Red Rocks every summer. Those are my greatest memories growing up.
