Exploring Life & Business with Christopher Barnds of Barnds Law

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christopher Barnds. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Growing up in the Greater Kansas City Metropolitan area, attorney Christopher C. Barnds always found himself wanting to help others any time he could. This desire to assist those in need only matured over time, which is what eventually lead Mr. Barnds to attend law school at the University of Cincinnati College of Law, in downtown Cincinnati, Ohio.

While in law school, Mr. Barnds was a contributing member and editor of the University of Cincinnati Law Review. Mr. Barnds was also an associate member of, and then contributing editor for, the Urban Morgan Institute of Humans Rights, and the Human Rights Quarterly—the leading academic journal in the human rights field both domestically, and abroad. Mr. Barnds graduated law school in the top ten percent of his class, earning him academic honors as well.

Throughout his legal career, attorney Christopher Barnds has developed the academic and practical background necessary to successfully represent the interest of his clients. Among other training received, Mr. Barnds has extensive experience in the areas of negotiations and mediations. Not only has Mr. Barnds studied through the Harvard Negotiation Program, but Mr. Barnds’ academic success in this area of study was of the nature that Mr. Barnds was invited by his law school professor to help other students better understand the importance of negotiation skills in the practice of law. In doing so, Mr. Barnds has helped hone his own skills as a client advocate and gained invaluable experience in the area of conflict resolution.

Having returned to the Kansas City area after graduating from law school, Mr. Barnds has focused his practice primarily in the areas of Family Law, Real Estate, and Wrongful Termination. Working in Topeka, KS for a short period of time, and then practicing with a small firm in Overland Park, KS, attorney Christopher C. Barnds decided to open his own practice to ensure he would have the time and resources necessary to provide personalized legal services to each client he takes on as a client.

Since opening his own firm in 2018, he has expanded to more clients in the Kansas and Missouri area. He has taken on two wonderful Associates as well as wonderful support staff. Our office is able to serve more individuals in need and provide a wonderful service for the community.

When Mr. Barnds is not in the office he spends time with his wife Maria, and his three little boys, Dominic, Theo, and Gabriel. He’s an avid Leggo builder (with his kids), and enjoys hometown sports games. He has two golden doodles (Baxter and Bella).

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There have been many struggles along the way as well as lots of growth and blessings. Without failure, there can not be an opportunity for growth. As a one-man show in 2018, our doors were flooded with people that needed help, and we could not help all those that needed it.

As time when on. we have with trial and error, found a wonderful support staff who are able to make sure that people are not missed, dates are always kept, and organization and communication are our key priorities. Now with the growth of a firm, I say that my biggest failure to date is time management. If I give my all to my clients and firm, sometimes my family doesn’t get any time with me.

My family understands that others need help and my staff and I try to be as communicative and responsive to the timely needs in Family Law. Real Estate and Wrongful Terminations, as issues usually arise on holidays, weekends, and late at night.

As you know, we’re big fans of Barnds Law LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
