Exploring Life & Business with Bree Ginden of KC Fit Coach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bree Ginden.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
In my 20s, I lost a football bet and had to attend three indoor cycling classes as my consequence. I had never attended one and quite frankly, was nervous! Fortunately, I ended up loving it and eventually became a Cycling Instructor, which was my first group fitness certification. From there, I went on to achieve many other certifications, including becoming a Registered Yoga instructor and Pilates Mat and Reformer instructor. My favorite format to teach is probably Strength and Conditioning, but I love being able to teach a variety of classes each week. Along the way, I also became a NASM Personal Trainer and a Precision Nutrition Level 2 Coach and actively coach clients through their health and wellness journey today.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t always been easy! There have been times when I’ve over-committed myself to classes and then end up overworked and exhausted! In the fitness industry, it can be easy to have periods of burnout…we have to be “ON” all the time, bringing energy and putting on a show every day. For most of us, this is where we thrive. It’s like getting to be on stage and it’s an adrenaline rush, but sometimes it can become too much. I’ve learned through the years to balance this by having days off, teaching in different facilities with different levels of class intensity, and varying my formats.

In addition, nutrition can be tricky with clients. I can give the clients the exact instructions for success, but they have to be willing to put in the work. It’s not all about willpower, as we only have so much of that, but willpower can be strengthened like a muscle…the more you work it, the stronger it gets until it just becomes habit. Our daily nutrition doesn’t have to be perfect for success, but the more steps forward you can take, the quicker you will reach your goal. Clients have to be ready and open for the challenge of change.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Under the umbrella of KC Fit Coach, I provide group fitness services, personal training and nutrition coaching. In addition, I co-owned a successful fitness business for three years that helped me understand how to meet the needs of a variety of clients. My years in the industry, combined with the array of certifications I hold, give me a well-rounded approach to help each individual achieve goals at their own pace.

Much of my nutrition coaching is done online through apps and simple texting! This keeps me in constant contact with my clients, able to guide them around each turn. I have the knowledge to help clients pursue wellness regardless of their dietary needs or wants. I’ve coached clients through Keto diets, Reverse diets, Gluten-free, sensitive gut, vegan/vegetarian, the standard 40/30/30, you name it! It’s all about finding what works for the individual client. My philosophy around food is that we eat to meet our goals and get pleasure, deprivation never works in the long run.

While I love private training and individual nutrition coaching, my longest passion has been in group fitness. The energy in the room, the friendships created among the participants and the gains in health and strength are just incredible. The collective inspiration within the group is so much greater than it would be individually, the group pushes you to do more than you would on your own, and friends hold you accountable to show up! I teach a variety of classes and would be hard-pressed to choose a favorite!

My years in the industry, along with the variety of training and certifications I have made me a unique coach. I enjoy approaching each client from a different angle!
