Exploring Life & Business with Avilynn Rea of Photography By Avilynn

Today we’d like to introduce you to Avilynn Rea.

Hi Avilynn, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I actually got started with photography when I was in high school. I fell in love with it pretty quickly, and after I graduated, I spent the summer at Rocky Mountain School of Photography (RMSP) in Montana. That experience gave me a great foundation and confirmed that this was something I really wanted to pursue.

When I came home, I just jumped right in and started my business. Honestly, I owe a lot of those early years to my church community. They were the first people to trust me with their weddings and family photos, and they shared my name with their friends and families. That word of mouth made such a huge difference and really helped my business get off the ground.

Since then, it’s been amazing to watch it grow. I’ve been so fortunate to meet and work with incredible couples, and I still feel grateful every time someone trusts me to document such an important part of their story. It’s been a journey that started with a hobby in high school and turned into a career I genuinely love.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road. There have been slower seasons, moments of self-doubt, and the challenge of learning everything that comes with running a business beyond just taking photos.

Through it all, I’ve learned to trust the Lord’s timing and His plan. Looking back, I can see how He was always providing and opening the right doors, even when I couldn’t see what was ahead. Those challenges have strengthened both my business and my faith, and I’m grateful for where they’ve led me.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Photography By Avilynn ?
I primarily photograph couples and weddings, but I also love documenting other meaningful seasons of life, including senior portraits, maternity, newborns, and small family sessions.

What I’m most proud of is the experience I create for my clients. I want people to feel comfortable, cared for, and fully present, whether it’s on their wedding day or during a quiet family session. Building real relationships with my clients is one of my favorite parts of this job, and it’s such an honor when they come back to me to document each new chapter of their lives.

At the end of the day, I hope my work tells authentic stories and gives people photographs they’ll treasure for generations.

How do you define success?
For me, success isn’t really about numbers or awards. It’s about serving my clients well, creating work I’m proud of, and building a business that allows me to do what I love while honoring the Lord. If my clients feel cared for, love their photos, and trust me enough to come back or recommend me to someone they love, I consider that a success.
