Today we’d like to introduce you to Anne Dezort.
Hi Anne, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My partner Adam and I started SOAP Refill Station in 2018 in Springfield, MO. By January 2020 we had expanded to Kansas City and opened our Waldo location after having many KC folk make the drive to SGF to refill. KC wanted this badly – so we decided to make the moves. 6 years later we are still in the same little shop in Waldo filling KC’s empty bottles again and again with their favorite household cleaning and body care essentials. In 2020 we also started manufacturing our own HOUSEbrand products as well! So our stores are full of our own HOUSEbrand products AND other National clean brands as well. Our HOUSEbrand products we make ourselves and refill our own stores (and a few other in the region) in a closed loop- meaning we make the product in tanks and put it in barrels, deliver the full barrels to the shops, and then take their empties back for a deep cleaning and refilling. They stay in the loop.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I am a pretty optimistic and forward thinker so from my perspective it’s all gone smooth. I’m sure I could pick out a couple bumps in the road, but overall… I’m very impresed with how much KC has welcomed and wanted to keep us in their community all this time! I also love our employees so much! They take their roles very serious and have a good time walking newbies through the process. I’d say having them to work with along the way has really made things sweeter.

SOAP Refill Station is a place for people who want to make a smaller environmental impact. We offer household cleaning and personal care products that you can bring your own containers and pay by the ounce to keep single use waste out of the equation. Our refill station is extra special because we have an OIL BAR where you can create custom skincare or mix in your favorite essential oils into your body care or household products. Our SOAPtenders are trained to walk you through the process and help you find your favorite new things. Bring your own (clean) containers and $ave!
Any big plans?
We would love to expand and have a second location in KC but we just haven’t found the right place yet!
