Exploring Life & Business with Amanda Cain of TrueFix Physical Therapy Shawnee

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Cain.

Hi Amanda, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have been a physical therapist working in outpatient orthopedics since 2009. My whole career I have enjoyed the interaction and repore that is a part of working with someone on getting them back to their goal or life. Seeing someone reach their goal is one of the most rewarding things that I have experienced in my life and I am greatful that I get to see it on a daily basis. I have always worked for small companies throughout my career and loved the family feel of a smaller company. I progressed from a treating staff therapist to lead therapist and clinic director throughout my years of treating. After seeing myself headed down an avenue of burnout I decided to take a leap and go after an opportunity that was presented to me to open my own cash based physical therapy clinic. So much of what was frustrating me about my previous position was more the business and insurance side and at the end of the day I still love treating patients and helping them reach their goals. I opened up the Shawnee location for TrueFix Physical therapy end of March 2025. It has made me love my job all over again and be able to just worry about the patient and not whether or not something was going to be covered by insurance.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I am very fortunate to have a wonderful support system in my family and friends. It was not an easy decision to leave what is comfortable and known and jump into the unknown, but with the encouragement of my husband and other family members I have felt supported every step of the way. It is a different mind set and running a business is a whole new adventure for me. From understanding taxes and business management to finding and outfiting a location to treat patients it has been a learning process. With the support that I have in both my personal and business world these challenges have been met with a team behind me.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I run a cash based outpatient physical therapy clinic focused on helping people move and feel good when they move their body. I work with a wide range of ages from youth up to geriatric. All focused on keeping them moving through injury or even preventing injury. I am certified in dry needling, Instrament assisted soft tissue mobilization, vestibular and concussion rehabilition and wide varity of manual therapy skills to address whatever it is someone is dealing with. I am here to help support anyone and everyone move and feel better.

What were you like growing up?
I grew up always playing a sport, I started with gymnastics and soccer when I was really little. My competitiveness and love for sports grew as I played soccer, basketball and softball through elementary and middle school. Soccer was always my number one sport and loved the time that I spent on the pitch. I have always been a person who interacts with a wide variety of people, but have my core group that I keep close. I am also the person that can enjoy a crowd and group, but am fine by myself and need down time after busy days.
