Hidden Gems: Meet Amanda Hickman of Living Balance Chiropractic & Acupuncture

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Hickman.

Hi Amanda, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
Alison (my sister and business partner) had graduated from undergrad and moved to Kansas City and we were both working in the same chiropractic office.

I was a rookie chiropractor, and she was a receptionist. During that time, Alison decided to go to an acupuncture school in Colorado. I think as soon as that was real, we both knew we would eventually open an office together. Fast forward 4 years, and a couple of kids and we opened our office in 2013.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Of course, it hasn’t been a smooth ride! In the last 10 years, we have had 7 kids between the two of us, navigated maternity leaves, a pandemic, and all of the normal ups and downs of owning a small business.

There are always challenges to being a working mother and a female-owned business. We like to think we’re navigating it gracefully enough.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Living Balance Chiropractic & Acupuncture?
We are a woman-owned and operated chiropractic and acupuncture business.

We currently offer chiropractic care and acupuncture for adults and children, craniosacral therapy, decompression, cold laser therapy, and stretch therapy. We will be offering infrared sauna sessions in January. I think we are most proud of being ourselves, what you see is what you get with all of us and all of us genuinely care about every person we work with. Care in our office is a collaboration.
