Ebony White’s Stories, Lessons & Insights

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Ebony White. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Ebony , thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
My little ones keep me proud, amazed, and laughing nonstop. Having two kids under five can be a whirlwind, but their incredible personalities make every chaotic moment worth it. Sometimes I catch myself wondering how I got so lucky. They’ll do something so random, it leaves me astonished and laughing until my cheeks hurt. I call them my wild Thornberry’s, a perfect mix of untamed energy and pure sweetness.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello! My name is Ebony White! I’m the heart and hands behind Inspire & Company Candles. What started as a simple love for candle-making has grown into a mission: to craft pure, natural candles that uplift the spirit and soothe the senses. Each one is carefully hand-poured and paired with an inspiring quote—because I believe fragrance and words together can spark transformation.

Inspire & Company is a proud Black-owned small business built on purpose and intention. Our candles don’t just fill a room with warmth and elegance—they invite you to quiet the noise, set fear aside, and chase your dreams with boldness.

We are unwavering in our commitment to quality, purity, and longevity. In a market flooded with synthetic fragrances and harmful additives, our candles stand apart. We use only premium materials—100% pure soybean wax, free of additives, and natural cotton wicks—for a clean, long-lasting burn you can feel good about.

We are currently working on diffusers and hand soaps.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
For a long time, I believed I wasn’t worthy of all the good things God was doing in my life. Growing up, I went through so much at a young age. Feeling alone, broken, and convinced that this was just “how life was supposed to be.”

But as I matured, I realized that wasn’t the truth. Life wasn’t meant to be constant struggle. I deserve greater and I will be greater. I’ve faced adversity head-on, and I refused to let other people’s opinions define me or hold me back from succeeding.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
You are going to be a successful business owner. It’s not a matter of if, it’s a matter of when. The struggles, setbacks, and slow seasons you’re facing right now are just part of the foundation being laid for something greater. Don’t get trapped in the frustration of the moment or feel like today’s results define your potential. Keep your eyes on the bigger picture, because your hard work, consistency, and vision are creating a future where your business thrives beyond anything you can imagine.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, the public version of me is the real me. I believe business and personal life are deeply rooted. Who I am at my core inevitably shapes how I run my business. When you’re true to yourself, you bring authenticity, consistency, and clarity into every decision you make.

Being genuine means there’s no split between “work me” and “real me.” The values I hold personally integrity, respect, and intention are the same ones I infuse into my business. This alignment builds trust with customers because they can sense when a brand is honest, transparent, and rooted in something real.

When integrity is at the heart of your business, you’re not just selling products or services, you’re building relationships, fostering loyalty, and creating a reputation that stands the test of time. People aren’t just buying what you sell; they’re buying into who you are.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
If I knew I had only 10 years left, I’d stop wasting precious energy stressing over things I can’t control. Worrying doesn’t change the outcome, it only robs me of the peace and joy I could be experiencing right now. Life is too short to get tangled up in “what ifs” and other people’s opinions.

Instead, I’d focus on what I can control: how I spend my time, who I surround myself with, and how I show up in the world. I’d choose more moments that fill my soul, laughing with loved ones, pursuing passions, building memories, and chasing the dreams that scare me a little.
