Daily Inspiration: Meet Tasha Roberts

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tasha Roberts.

Hi Tasha , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Back in 2018, I was mid-workout when it hit me—I wasn’t meant to sit behind a desk for the rest of my life. I didn’t know exactly what was next, but I knew I wanted something different. Around that time, I kept coming across lash extension videos on Instagram and YouTube, and something about it just clicked.

I started doing my homework—checking out Missouri’s licensing requirements, what training would cost, and what it would take to actually get started. Everything felt doable, so I decided to go for it. I signed up for a certification course in August, thinking, “Worst case, I do it long enough to make my money back. Best case? I’ve found something I truly enjoy.”

I took my course on August 27, 2018, and had my first client by September 1. I’ve been in love with the industry ever since—and I haven’t looked back.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
For starters, I hit my one-year mark of being self-employed while stuck at home during the COVID shutdown. Not exactly the celebration I had in mind—but I told myself, “If I can get through this, I can get through anything.”

I started figuring things out as I went, and quickly learned that self-employment is one big, never-ending learning process. Another hard (but necessary) lesson? Learning to set boundaries—with my business and with clients. It’s not always easy, but it’s helped me protect my peace and keep doing what I love.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
B’Lashed Society has become well-known for eyelash extensions, but as we’ve grown, I’ve started focusing more on permanent makeup and fine line tattoos to expand what we offer.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I’m focused on expanding my team, growing my permanent makeup client base, and stepping into an educator role to help others get started in the PMU world.
