Daily Inspiration: Meet Sierra Otto

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sierra Otto.

Hi Sierra, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My love of jewelry has deep roots. I have been making jewelry since I was a kid and was always in awe of my Grandma and Great Aunts’ jewelry collection. This awe led me to studying Metalsmithing and Jewelry Design in college, then working as a designer at a large sterling silver jewelry company, and then eventually lead me to starting Sierra Winter Jewelry 9 years ago.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Of course not! Haha!
There are always obstacles and failures. It is impossible not to have these in business. I have always been open to trying new things, hiring people who know more and are better at things than I am, and pivoting when something isn’t going correctly. You have to be open to change, learn from failures, and then make something better from it.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I design meaningful, unique, and high-quality jewelry! My jewelry designs are known to stand out in a crowd and start conversations.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
How I Built This is a great podcast, and I’ve listened to every product-based interview they have done. There is always something to learn from, whether its a popcorn company or a jewelry company!
