Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Horns.
Hi Sarah, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Sarah Mae Photography began as a big dream that I was too afraid to share for a long time. I’ve always found joy in photography and the excitement that comes from capturing a beautiful image. Over the years, I’ve enjoyed college photography courses, photographed close friends’ weddings and special events, and documented my family’s milestones. In 2025 I left my decade-long career in Human Resources to help support my husband’s laser engraving business, Maker Plates, and to also chase my dream of becoming a photographer. My dream only began to take shape when I finally voiced it out loud. I encourage everyone to shout out your dreams!!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
This journey has been really great but there are always a few bumps along the way. Something that comes to mind is there are client leads that do not work out. However, my hope is their experience with me was positive and that they may be interested to work together in the future. I believe every challenge is an opportunity to learn and grow!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As a natural light photographer I specialize in capturing families, couples, and portraits using the available light to create beautiful images. I’m most proud of hearing my clients say the session was more enjoyable than they expected! What sets me apart is my focus on creating a calm, comfortable atmosphere where clients can relax and be themselves. I have an unhurried pace and provide gentle guidance to support them throughout the session so they feel confident from start to finish.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
In my personal life, raising my two young boys with my husband and watching our family grow together is such a joyful gift. In my professional life, I love taking photos that make a client feel confident. I also love capturing families with young children because time goes by quickly and capturing those memories is so important. A friend once told me they can see my joy through the photos I take, and it’s true. Photography brings me so much happiness and I’m incredibly grateful to share that joy with others.
