Today we’d like to introduce you to Posh Performance Horses. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Owning an equestrian boarding barn that emphasizes a full care approach of the horse and rider has been a lifelong goal of ours. We are Pamela, Olivia, Samantha, and Hannah – the proud owners of POSH Performance Horses of Lee’s Summit, Missouri.
After beginning our equestrian journeys over 15 years ago, our passion and love for performance horses only grew. We continued to ride, show, and gain knowledge through vet tours, informational clinics, and any other avenue available to us. Fast forward to 2019, we had all graduated college and begun our careers in Corporate America. With our updated resources, we finally had the chance to make our dream a reality. We began the search for the perfect property that had an ideal location and the resources we would need to make quality care our top priority. We found our 18.5 acre property and knew it was the one for us. We spent four months renovating and officially opened for business in September of 2020.
We are happy to be the sole providers of quality equine care that also stimulates the horses physically, mentally and emotionally. We offer what no other boarding barn does in that we not only have the basic amenities – an indoor arena, outdoor arena, hot water wash racks, tack rooms, etc. – but also offer an on-site trainer, unlimited quality hay, Nutrena feed formulated for the performance horse, 4-6 inches of bedding, an automatic fly spray system, supplement feeding, blanketing, fans in the summer, lights in the winter, and anything else needed for quality physical care. We also offer peace of mind for owners by sending daily photo and video updates of each horse to the owner and by having a security gate offering only access to horse owners. Additionally, we offer mental stimulation through daily turnout, brain games, and toys for all of the horses. Each horse is truly treated like family, with patience and love.
In our first year of business, we have traveled to many top-notch competitions and expanded our client base. We have won both World and Congress Championships, hosted state Farrier competitions, held two very successful tack sales, and are excited to continue the develop and expand in 2022.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Founding POSH Performance Horses has been nothing short of exciting. We have loved every development, friendship, and memory made along the way. Of course, every business has its struggles but that was expected and discussed prior to purchasing our property. Our amazing boarders, horses, and community make every stressor worthwhile!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We specialize in quality care for the whole horse. Our motto is “Doing It Right,” and we truly aim to do that in every aspect of our business. Our care of the horse truly goes above and beyond the average. We feed and care for them as if they are Olympic Athletes. We stimulate the horses physically, emotionally and mentally with companions that they mesh well with, boredom busters, and ample time outside. Peace of mind for the horse’s owners is a priority, we ensure this through the importance of open communication and through our daily photo and video updates of each horse. Our trainer’s approach also aligns with our motto in that she approaches each horse at the level they are at and works alongside them in a partnership to further their development – rather than pushing them beyond their mental, physical, or emotional capacity. We are excited to continue making a name for ourselves both at a competition and quality care level.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Horseback riding has countless benefits including both mental health benefits and physical benefits for individuals of all abilities. The total economic impact of the horse industry in the United States is 122 billion dollars! With that in mind, we hope that the trend continues upwards. We have firsthand seen the positive impacts of horses, not only in our own lives but also in the lives of those around us. We would highly recommend horseback riding to anyone who has ever considered it!
