Daily Inspiration: Meet Megan Freeman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Freeman.

Hi Megan, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I always loved having cute nails whether it was just my polish or a fun acrylic set. During COVID I started getting interested in learning how to do them myself. At first it was super rough, but over time I started getting better. I did my sisters’ nails 24/7 and then my friends started asking me if I could do theirs. When Homecoming season rolled around I started selling a bunch of press ons for girls who wanted a fun set but didn’t want to pay salon prices.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There are so many different components going into doing nails. At first I was trying to do acrylics, not my strong suit. So now I do Gel X nails. The nail art itself is also super difficult. Whether it’s just straight lines on stripes or the blending on aura nails it definitely took me a bit to be where I am today.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am most proud of how far I have come. I remember how a set would take me 2-3 hours because I would constantly mess up, but now I can get one done in 45 minutes. It’s also nice when somebody leaves super satisfied with their nails. I think I’m known for how cheap my prices are. Almost all of my clients are high school students and I know they probably have to pay for gas or they’re saving money for college. So I don’t charge them an arm and a leg.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
My sisters have been my biggest supporters. My younger sister Maya has really been through every stage of me doing nails, even the rough ones. But now she and my older sister, Molly, are probably my biggest clients. They give me super fun inspo and I’m always challenged when doing their nails.
