Today we’d like to introduce you to Makenna Campbell
Hi Makenna, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I never planned on becoming a videographer. Growing up in northern rural Missouri, I always thought I wanted to end up in agricultural sales, which is why I majored in agribusiness at Kansas State University. But the summer before my junior year, everything changed. During an internship with Purina Livestock Nutrition, I managed social media for an agricultural cooperative and picked up a camera for the first time. That’s when I realized how powerful storytelling could be in agriculture—capturing the real, unscripted moments of farmers, ranchers, and businesses making an impact.
From that moment on, I was hooked. I started filming everything I could, learning through trial and error, and slowly building a business from scratch. That business became Harmony Media, where I now help agribusinesses create video content that connects with their audience on a deeper level. My journey has been full of challenges—figuring out branding, pricing, and the business side of things while still refining my skills as a videographer. Through every project, I’ve seen firsthand how video can build trust, strengthen brands, and bring people together.
Now, as I continue growing my business, my mission is simple: to help agribusinesses tell their stories in a way that cultivates real connections—because in agriculture, it’s more than just a video.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not! But even though the road hasn’t been smooth, every challenge has felt meaningful. Every struggle or roadblock has been a learning opportunity that’s pushed me forward and made me a stronger business owner.
One of the biggest challenges has been wearing all the hats. I’m not just the videographer—I’m also the marketer, accountant, salesperson, and everything in between. Right now, I’m navigating my first tax season as a business owner, which has been a learning curve on its own. Another challenge has been figuring out my transaction process—pricing, contracts, and payments—it’s constantly evolving as I grow and learn what works best.
But maybe the hardest part was the doubt I faced when graduating college. My business hadn’t fully “taken off” yet, and choosing to be self-employed was scary. I had to bet on myself, trust the process, and push past the fear of it not working out. It hasn’t been easy, but it’s been worth it. Every challenge has led to growth, and I wouldn’t trade that for anything.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I create business promotional videos, event coverage, and social media content specifically for agribusinesses and agricultural producers. My work is all about storytelling—capturing the heart of agriculture in a way that resonates with audiences. I’d say I’m known for creating content that moves people—whether that’s through an emotional connection, a sense of nostalgia, or pure excitement. Every piece I create is meant to feel authentic and meaningful.
What sets me apart is my deep passion for the agriculture industry and my understanding of the businesses I work with. I don’t just show up with a camera—I know the people, the values, and the stories that make this industry special. Beyond that, I focus on building real relationships with my clients and helping them connect with their audiences in a way that feels natural and impactful. That’s where the name Harmony Media comes from—because my goal is to create harmony between brands and their audiences through video.
One of the things I’m most proud of is seeing the impact of my work—not just in terms of views or engagement, but in the way it helps businesses grow and connect with their customers on a deeper level. Beyond the business’s impact, my content also carries sentimental value to those pictured. I’ve loved getting to preserve precious memories for people and seeing the impact those pieces have on them and their families.
What are your plans for the future?
Now that I’m officially full-time post-graduation, I’m focused on growing Harmony Media in a way that stays true to my values. That means refining my branding, improving the overall customer experience, and continuing to invest in ways that make my work even better. At the core of it all, I just want to keep telling more meaningful stories in agriculture—stories that truly connect people to the industry.
I’m also looking forward to expanding my reach and hopefully traveling to different parts of the country to capture more diverse agricultural stories. There’s so much variety in this industry, and I’d love to showcase the people, businesses, and operations that make it all happen in unique ways.
Overall, my plan is simple—keep learning, keep improving, and keep creating content that makes an impact.
