Today, we’d like to introduce you to Maia Coyne.
Thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
During COVID, TikTok was booming, and I found myself spending a lot of time on the app. I have always been interested in watching YouTube vlogs and social media. I decided to post some TikTok during that time, and they all did well. However, life got in the way, and I didn’t take tiktok as seriously.
Fast forward a couple of years, and I found myself jobless due to all of the layoffs that happened, and I really dug into social media. I started posting about places I visited to eat, activities I did, or daily vlogs, and I just found myself really enjoying it. After I completed a few videos, I started reaching out to brands for collaborations! I also started to reach out to Kansas City companies to collaborate locally.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Overall, it has been a smooth ride. I can’t complain. I do think that if I relied on collaborations as my primary source of income, it would be a struggle. I have another job that has allowed me to do this on the side and not put so much pressure on it which has made it a fun experience for me.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a consultant for a Healthcare IT company. I have been doing this since I graduated college. I have worked for a few different electronic medical record companies. I really enjoy working in the healthcare world. I travel a good amount for work as well, and it has been a great journey.
I have gone to some awesome places with cool people. It has definitely inspired my content creation. I love talking with new people and learning about them and their business. I think building relationships is so important with any job!
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I think being kind and respecting everyone is important, as well as being able to see other perspectives. You can take other peoples feedback and grow from it, you don’t need to always see it as a bad thing.
