Hi Maggie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story did not start in business, it started in the classroom. I began my career as a special education teacher, where I learned the power of patience, communication, and advocacy. I loved the work, but I also discovered early on that I had a strong entrepreneurial drive. I was constantly looking for ways to create solutions, build systems, and serve families and communities on a broader scale.
That ambition led me to open my first childcare center. One location grew into five, and those years taught me the fundamentals of leadership, operations, scaling, and building teams. It was my first major step into entrepreneurship, and it showed me that I could take a vision and turn it into something meaningful and sustainable.
As my businesses grew, so did my desire to deepen my expertise. That’s what inspired me to pursue my doctoral journey at Vanderbilt University, where I focus on leadership, organizational development, and systems-level change. Vanderbilt is challenging me to think bigger, not just about my own work, but about how organizations and ideas can impact entire communities. This educational experience is refining the way I lead, solve problems, and build businesses today.
With the foundation already built, my entrepreneurial path continued to expand. I stepped into the fitness and athletic world, opening Gardner Athletic Club, Legacy Fitness, and The Body Shop KC. Each gym was built around community, empowerment, and helping people feel stronger in their daily lives. Around the same time, I began working as a general contractor, which gave me an entirely new skillset in design, construction, and creating functional spaces from the ground up. It allowed me to bring my business visions to life in a very tangible way.
Today, I am most energized by my newest venture, which led you to me, Trendy Vibes KC. It feels like the perfect fusion of everything I have learned, from education and leadership to branding, community-building, and entrepreneurship. Trendy Vibes represents not just a business idea, but a movement: creative, fresh, modern, and built with purpose.
My journey has not been linear, but every chapter, teaching, childcare, fitness, construction, academia and now Trendy Vibes, has shaped the leader and creator I am today. I have learned to embrace chaos, continually grow, stay curious, and build boldly. And I am excited for what comes next!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has always been bumpy, but every challenge has shaped the vision behind Trendy Vibes. Transitioning through every business venture came with obstacles: long nights, financial risks, setbacks, and plenty of moments where I had to rebuild or rethink everything.
But those tough times taught me resilience, creativity, and confidence. Each failure and pivot gave me a new skill, a new perspective, and a deeper belief in trusting my instincts.
Trendy Vibes is really the product of that entire journey. It represents reinvention, boldness, a collective, and choosing growth even when the path is not easy. The bumps in the road did not slow me down, they are exactly what prepared me for this next chapter.

My work has always been centered around building businesses that serve people and create meaningful experiences. At my core, I specialize in turning ideas into impactful brands and functional spaces that bring communities together through positive guidance and influence.
I am known for being a builder in every sense of the word. I build teams, environments, systems, and now with Trendy Vibes, I’m building a lifestyle brand that feels fresh, fun, and empowering. Trendy Vibes is my favorite project yet because it blends everything I have learned throughout my journey, leadership, creativity, design, community, and entrepreneurship, into something modern and exciting.
I am most proud of my ability to create positive energy through empowering acts. Each chapter has added a new layer to my skillset and a new perspective on what’s possible.
What sets me apart is that I do not just start businesses, I build ecosystems. I think holistically about the experience, the culture, the brand, and the long-term impact. I’m deeply hands-on, willing to learn any skill, and not afraid to step into industries where I am the beginner. That willingness to grow, to pivot, and to pursue ideas with heart and purpose is what drives all my work.
At the end of the day, my goal is simple: to create things and places that inspire people to be their most kind, authentic self, all while embracing the chaos. Trendy Vibes is the newest expression of that mission, a collective of shop owners, where they can share their inspiration and build their brand, and I could not be more excited about where it is headed.
Any big plans?
Honestly, I have no idea where the future will take me! That is part of what I love about my journey. It is always unknown, but I embrace it with enthusiasm and heart. Every chapter of my life has opened a door I never expected, and I have learned I am always up for a rebuild when the time is right. I am excited to keep growing, keep creating, and keep stepping into whatever new opportunities come my way. Trendy Vibes is just the beginning.
