Daily Inspiration: Meet Lucas Mathew Stein

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lucas Mathew Stein.

Hi Lucas Mathew, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
When I was seventeen years old I was in a debilitating car accident. I went through the windshield at 55 mph and suffered a major head injury. I had a massive concussion that made it so I could barely stand or walk for most of my Jr. year of high school. I was home schooled the majority of that year because of it. A year after my recovery began I was diagnosed to go blind in seven years due to the massive head trauma. The vitreous jelly in was peeling off of my retina’s in my eyes. I refused to allow this to happen and I moved to the Middle East, primarily Israel, to get closer to God and to find healing. After a year of hitch hiking the Middle East, seeking out all of the legendary places in the bible and of all religions, after studying Kabbalah in Tzfat and partaking in services and ceremonies of all natures I found what served me best was the healing touch of friends. I developed bad a bad sickness while I was walking across Egypt and was forced to return to Israel. This had me leaving Egypt and traveling back to Jerusalem during Passover. In Jerusalem I laid sick in a hostile on the Via De La Rosa path in the Arabic Quarter of the old city being tended and taken care of by strangers, international travelers; I was in the hands of humans, friends and strangers, and I found healing in their care.
I returned to the U.S.A. after I recovered from that sickness and I enrolled myself into Alternative Medicine School at The Healing Arts Institute in Ft. Collins, CO. I fell in love with my studies and enrolled into every program they had, at the same time I got an internship with a great Acupuncturist named Dr. James Ramholz O.M.D. He was a phenomenally great acupuncturist R.I.P., he published Chinese Medicine Text books for Shambhalla Press and more, He taught Pulse Diagnostics at the Chinese Medicine schools in Denver, he lectured to other doctors and was the number one student to Jiang Jing, head of the Korean lineage of Medicine. He not only helped heal me but also had me running the largest Chinese medicinal herbal pharmacy in NE Colorado at the time, while helping me build my alternative medicine, BodyMind and sports practice out of his clinic, the Silk Road Acupuncture Center. I continued my education at the Naropa Institute in Boulder, The Rolfe Institute, The Transpersonal Hypnotherapy Institute, The School of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Denver over the years. I eventually became the Massage/BodyMind Therapist to the local U.S.A. professional cycling team from Boulder Colorado, Celestial Seasonings and begin helping them with their training and as their therapist/porter internationally for the larger stage races. After years of working with Colorado Sports enthusiasts and professional athletes I was brought into the film Industry where I worked with movie and television stars, producers, directors and crew. I worked in the studio realms for 25 years until I moved to Kansas where I now practice out of the Kobler Clinics in Kansas and Missouri, specifically the Kobler Chiropractic, Acupuncture, Massage, and BTL Aesthetics and modern medicine clinic at the AdventHealth Sports Park in Overland Park.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Life is not always a smooth ride. It is full of ups and downs. No matter where or what was going on in my life I always had my Massage Therapy skills to help me find balance. Getting to help others allows me to help myself. When you spend an hour or two treating a client, even if it is just to help them relax, you hold a healing mind space and a healers intentions inside yourself to do so. Constantly meditating, actively praying, with those intentions for others always has beneficial rewards for the self, for the healer, it is the right-use-ness of the human BodyMind and living in that mind space and acting in that mind space brings peace and healing.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I treat my healing work like an art. I have been practicing my crafts for over 30 years now and I work from the realm of intuition having embodied my educations through constant practice. I am a master of the Swedish style massage and I love it’s graceful meditative flows and sensuous healing nature but my expertise is in neuromuscular deep tissue bodywork, the healing of specific acute or chronic conditions. The puzzle of pain patterns and the puzzle that accompany’s its healing path is my favorite thing to wrap my mind around and the most rewarding Rubic’s Cube of the human experience to solve. I am proud of my history of success with clients, I am proud that I have gotten to be a part of tens of thousands of peoples healing journey, I am honored every time someone comes to me for help and I am proud that I can always make a difference for the better amongst friends, family and strangers with human touch.
