Daily Inspiration: Meet Lisa Hill

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Hill.

Hi Lisa, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started 4 years ago after my divorce. I was looking for a decent job to provide for me and my three children and I came across a new company that was hiring Airbnb cleaners.

Within a few months, I quickly worked my way up to managing. One of my bosses put the idea in my head to start my own cleaning business so I did. He was my first client and I wouldn’t have been able to start without him.

It has been quite the ride and now I am jumping into learning commercial cleaning as well to expand my options.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all.

Airbnbs have busy seasons and nonbusy seasons which was a struggle to get used to in the beginning. When I first started, I was working a full-time job and somehow managing a 30-minute drive back downtown during my lunch break and straight after my full-time job to get myself started.

I eventually gained enough clients so the slow season didn’t affect me as bad as before but covid has really made everything difficult.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a cleaner and I specialize in Airbnbs, short-term rentals, and vacation homes. I am known for being detailed in my work, my bed-making skills, and my clean floors.

As a cleaner, I am most proud of my clean bathrooms and hearing guest compliment how clean it smells. I ensure my standards are upheld on every clean by checking in on employees throughout the day and jumping in to help if need be.

(I’m also known for my mirror selfies and I found a lot. I just had to share this because I found it funny).

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
I feel like there are still many lessons to be learned but so far am managing my time as a newly divorced single mom and trying to start a business.
