Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Ellington
Lauren, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My name is Lauren Ellington I am Owner of Goofy Girl Cosmetics , I started off selling eyelash strips, organic lipglosses made from scratch , lip oils etc and selling it all from the trunk of my car back in 2017 . I was still so fresh out of high school but I always knew I had a passion for making other woman feel as good as they looked . I am big on self care and so I’d always love to spread my touch on other woman who could be battling how to simply love their self and knowing that they come first before anything else in this world. As time went by I knew I wanted more I knew that this passion from my trunk had to grow more and so I listened to God and allowed him to take me through his course & so here I am now very much loved and known for being a Eyelash technician located right on 75th and Troost of Kansas City , also blessed to finally be able to show the world who we are in our salon that I have now been at for a year now yay!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Though this has been an amazing journey , it also came with its own courses, I’ve went through trials and errors many times , but I’ve learned that those hurdles couldn’t stop me from where my destination was to . I knew I had to keep going because I know in the end it’ll be easier . I’ve had a tough run with gaining a pretty decent clientele to simply keep me going , I’ve struggled at trials and errors when weather started to change very frequently which played an major impact on clientele as well . My job was to pull in just the right crowd that needs me just as much as I need them . But once I was able to fall and get back up I was steady and able to recognize how to maneuver better next time . But also I know that to fall is to learn a lesson that will teach me something important in life and that’s simply to never give up .
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I was fresh out of high school & didn’t really know what I wanted to do but My grandma Linda would always push me in to being the best person I can be and that no matter what I put my mind to just make the best of it . And so she’d always called me goofy Girl because there is just never a dull moment when we weren’t laughing it up and gossiping about funny things and doing funny dances , I’d always tell her okay I love lip gloss and I’d want to sell it and so she be right there telling me “well then you need to do that and you’ll get so far” and so sure enough that’s what I did because of how much she believed in me I knew I couldn’t fall . I specialize in Eyelash Extensions, I offer many different types of styles such as Volume , Classic, Hybrid & Mega Volume. Eyelash extensions are very popular right now and I enjoy providing that service just as much as my clientele that receive the services, mainly because I enjoy making woman feel good , I enjoy the conversation myself and my clients can build by just simply coming and sitting in my chair for 1 hour and 30 minutes. I’ve met some of the most strong and powerful woman there is , and made lifelong bonds well . So actually to us it’s a bit more to what I do than just lash , I’m also a free therapist I’d like to say as a joke but because the woman I get the honor to connect with look at me in that way , they sometimes just come by to talk to me or even sit in silence because my salon brings peace , peace that they need from a long day , peace from being a hard working mother through out their everyday , peace from having a long day and finally being able to take a breath . The woman really need this . I am also know for My famous Lipgloss in Kansas City , originally that’s what started me off , I’ve always had this thing for glitter and glossy lips and skin & so as soon as I graduated high school in 2017 I took off and the rest has became history .
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My favorite Childhood memories, I always looked forward to my mom dressing me and my siblings up to have a fun day together , we’d go to Hy-Vee and she’d tell us we can pick anything that we want so we’d all get a fruit water and any snack we’d enjoy and then she’d take us to a really nice park with trails and let us go on hikes and play at the park then she take us to get ice cream or a parfait from McDonald’s when we left the park , we’d ride in the back seat of her Volkswagen while she’d play Maxwell pretty wings over and over again with all of the windows down .
