Daily Inspiration: Meet Krista Wilson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Krista Wilson.

Hi Krista, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have lived in KC my entire life… After deciding not to pursue a career in the medical field, I taught high school Anatomy and Microbiology for a year. I had a friend selling real estate at ReeceNichols and decided to join her team in 2002. My sales took off pretty quickly and I didn’t return to teaching the following year. I sold residential resale and new construction for nearly ten years before I decided to step into a broker role.

I was the Assistant Broker at our Leawood office then moved to the Managing Broker position at our KC North office. Since then, I managed two other offices and then stepped into the Senior Vice President role at our corporate office, overseeing eight of our offices. I missed the daily interaction with my agents and when an opportunity came up to open a new office in Northwestern Johnson County, I jumped! I am passionate about taking my agents to the next level to ensure that they are the very best that they can be and that our clients are only getting the best!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Oh yes! Certainly, when the bubble burst in the late 2000’s, it was a difficult time. A lot of sellers were underwater in their homes, being forced to try to sell because they had adjustable-rate mortgages that were increasing dramatically. So many sellers had to bring money to their closings or were forced to do a short sale. It was terribly sad to sit across the table from sellers and tell them what they thought was their best investment was not. Later in my career, when stepping into broker roles in different offices, it takes some time to get to know the agents and to gain their trust. It’s a challenge, but connecting with them and helping them grow their business is incredible rewarding.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am most proud of the success that my agents and offices have seen over the years. I am known for being the one that goes into situations with fresh ideas and different perspectives and helping those agents and offices to grow. I focus on coaching and training. I am passionate about helping others to gain the knowledge that makes them feel confident.

Any big plans?
I am enjoying managing the Johnson County West office as well as being Senior Vice President of Brokerage. I love a challenge! It’s incredibly rewarding to interact daily with my agents and also to collaborate with my colleagues and corporate representatives. Our goal is to provide the very best service to our agents and their clients. We are constantly looking for ways to improve in our services and the lives of those that we impact.
