Daily Inspiration: Meet KC Sips

Today we’d like to introduce you to KC Sips.

Hi KC, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always been a creative person. I’ve loved being both behind and in front of the camera since I was little. I come from a family full of creatives—each of us in different ways. I went to school for photography in California, and that’s where my love for capturing moments really grew into something bigger. As I got older, I found myself working in more corporate spaces, but I still felt like I was missing an outlet to express myself. When I first started my page, I didn’t have much experience on social media or any idea of what I was getting myself into—I just knew I loved Kansas City and coffee. I’ve always enjoyed exploring local spots and finding that perfect sip, and I realized no one was really focusing just on drinks, and I thought, why not me? So I started my page, found a catchy handle, and that’s how KC Sips was born—a space to share my love for all sips!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Nothing worth having in life is easy, and having a page like this is no different. Kansas City is home to some amazing content creators who’ve been around for a while, so I was diving into a competitive space, hoping I could find my place. I’ve had some incredible opportunities and experiences that I’m forever grateful for, but I’ve also had my share of challenges. One of the hardest parts is that people sometimes forget there’s a real human behind the page and the content. I don’t share my face on the platform, and I’ve received messages about it, with some even hoping I fail or questioning my intentions. The truth is, I’m not scared to show who I am—I just don’t think it’s needed. My focus has always been on the local businesses and not on me. My goal is to highlight Kansas City, its amazing vibes, and the local businesses that make it such a special place. I want people to see what makes the city so special.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a content creator in Kansas City, and I’m the voice behind KC Sips. My goal is to help people discover the best local spots for all kinds of drinks—whether that’s a cozy cup of coffee, a refreshing mocktail, or a delicious cocktail. I focus on supporting local businesses and sharing my favorite finds around the city. One of the things I love the most is the community I’ve built on Instagram. It’s been so rewarding to connect with both locals and visitors, and knowing that my posts help people discover new spots they love makes it all worth it. I also love being able to help local businesses grow their presence on social media. While drinks are the main focus, I also share some of the best food and fun things to do in Kansas City, giving people a full guide to all the great things this city has to offer.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
For me, risk-taking is key to growth. It’s all about stepping out of your comfort zone, no matter how big or small the risk is. One of the biggest risks I took was just starting KC Sips. I had no idea where it would lead, and honestly, some people probably thought it was silly—after all, it’s just another Instagram page, right? But for me, it’s always been more than that. It’s about spending hours creating content, hoping that others will appreciate it as much as I do. It’s putting my work out there, hoping no one steals it. It’s getting to a point where I’m considered for collaborations, which is a huge. I’m naturally a cautious person, but being a content creator has really pushed me in ways I never expected. If I hadn’t taken that risk and jumped in, I wouldn’t be where I am today—and I’m so glad I did. It might just be beautiful to me, but I’m proud of what I’ve built.
