Today we’d like to introduce you to Jayden Plummer
Jayden, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey into videography began in high school, where my passion for the craft quickly became evident. Despite struggling in other subjects, my dedication to videography grew, signaling that this was more than a hobby—it was a calling.
After graduating and weathering the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic, I made a bold move to Dallas, Texas, joining forces with like-minded creatives I met online. Together, we founded Teal Media, a versatile company specializing in everything from commercials to weddings, travel documentaries to FPV flythroughs. Our portfolio expanded rapidly, showcasing our diverse skills and creative vision.
In 2023, I made the decision to return to my roots in Kansas City, leaving Teal Media’s Dallas operations in the capable hands of my business partner. This relocation marked a strategic shift, focusing Teal Media’s Kansas City branch on my true passions: sports, Events, FPV drone flythroughs, and brand storytelling. It represents a fresh start and a renewed commitment to pursuing my career dreams with clarity and purpose.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road for Teal Media. While I had a clear passion and skill for videography from an early age, transitioning that passion into a successful business presented significant challenges. One of the major hurdles was the realization that being talented in videography didn’t automatically translate into knowing how to run a business effectively.
I faced difficulties in establishing and managing the business operations behind Teal Media. As a creative individual,I initially lacked the necessary business acumen and struggled with the day-to-day management aspects, such as finances, client relations, and operational logistics. This learning curve was steep and required seeking guidance from mentors and successful businesses who had navigated similar challenges.
Through perseverance and learning from others, My team and I were able to overcome these initial obstacles. We utilized mentorship and insights from more experienced entrepreneurs to gain the knowledge and skills needed to effectively run and grow Teal Media. This process of learning and adapting was crucial in getting the business off the ground and achieving sustainable growth.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
What sets Teal Media apart from other videography companies is Jayden’s expertise and passion for FPV (First-Person View) indoor flythroughs. This specialized skill not only showcases Jayden’s dedication but also highlights the unique capabilities of FPV drones in capturing dynamic and immersive footage.
FPV flying is not just about piloting a drone; it’s a highly technical skill that took Jayden over 100 hours to master. He dedicated countless late nights to practicing on a computer simulator before transitioning to real-world flying. Unlike traditional drones, FPV drones provide a perspective akin to flying in a fighter jet, thanks to VR goggles that give Jayden a real-time view of what the drone sees.
What Jayden is most proud of is his ability to achieve 100% manual control over the FPV drone. This level of control allows him to execute complex maneuvers such as flips, spins, and precise navigation through obstacles. This capability creates a perspective that is unparalleled in videography, offering viewers a thrilling and unique experience.
Teal Media specializes in leveraging FPV drones for a variety of purposes, including events, office flythroughs, grand openings, and any scenario where a distinctive aerial perspective can enhance storytelling. Jayden’s mastery of FPV technology enables him to capture footage that stands out, providing clients with innovative and impactful visual content that sets their projects apart from the rest.
What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is storytelling. I find immense fulfillment in capturing and conveying the unique narratives of brands, businesses, and individuals through visual storytelling. Each entity possesses its own distinct essence and story waiting to be told, and I take great pleasure in bringing these narratives to life.
Seeing the impact of my work on clients is particularly rewarding. Witnessing the expression of satisfaction and joy on their faces when they view the final product fills me with happiness and validates my passion for storytelling through videography.
Moreover, I values the relationships that develop through my work. Building connections with clients and understanding their stories on a deeper level enhances my ability to create compelling visual narratives that resonate with authenticity and emotion.
My dedication to storytelling not only defines my professional journey but also fuels my personal fulfillment, driven by the joy of making meaningful connections and bringing stories to life through the art of visual storytelling.
