Today we’d like to introduce you to Jackie Fonseca.
Hi Jackie, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Although I’ve been working in real estate full-time for only a year and a half, I’ve been a licensed REALTOR® in KS and MO for five years. When I got my real estate license I was working full-time as a Project Accountant and my youngest of four was almost two years old. Prior to that I’d worked in marketing and IT roles for different companies yet contemplated going into real estate throughout the years. I’ve always had a fondness for houses and enjoy helping others, so it’s great to feel that I’m finally doing what I’m meant to. I was able to take the leap into real estate full-time once my youngest began school and I love it! It’s always been part of my plan to own rental properties, so I look forward to being able to invest in neighborhoods across our awesome city!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
In real estate, you’re not getting paid unless you’re closing deals and there are costs along the way. If you’re not financially prepared it’ll cause undue stress. Fortunately, I was able to have a smooth transition when I no longer received a regular paycheck, thanks to being blessed with a supportive family.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
As a REALTOR® I love helping people realize their dream of homeownership. I don’t believe that there’s a better investment you can make. I strive to give all of my clients a great experience while serving them with honesty and integrity.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
As with any entrepreneurship, you must be self-disciplined, willing to learn, and hungry to succeed. Interview with several brokerages; it’s not just about commission splits but what they offer and the environment they create amongst their agents.
