Daily Inspiration: Meet Jace Smith

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jace Smith.

Jace, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My name is Jace. I was born in Minneapolis, MN on 8/14. My parents had me young and barely had any money when I was born so we moved from place to place making our way down to the Ozarks in Missouri living in a few different places. We eventually came over to KC moving around areas quite a bit when my brother was born. My parents always had a love for music.

My mom sang and my dad grew up listening to rap and being an MC at live concert events. I listened to all types of music growing up Rock, Rap, Soul, Blues, etc. I think since the day I was born I’ve had a love for music and since I was three years old I’ve wanted to be a professional artist and do what I’m doing right now. Eventually, in my freshman year of high school, I ended up making an album recorded on a Samsung voice recorder with youtube beats playing out of a computer speaker.

But for some reason, I always knew the reason I’m alive is to do this and since then my sound has evolved into something that I think the world needs to hear. I started going to real studios getting professional quality and connections with people that I call my homies now.

Making music is my passion and I can’t wait to see what comes next. This really is my dream job and I have no doubts in my mind that I’m going to make it.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s hard for me to relate to people. It’s like everybody knows me because of my music but they don’t really know me. I see people I’ve been cool with for a while acting weird now just because I got a Lil buzz around me and it ain’t even anything that crazy yet.

And also life can just throw anything at you anytime it wants I had my bro pass away last year outta nowhere and that fucked me up. I got dissociation so sometimes I check out and I feel like I’m the only person in a room of 300 people.

I don’t wanna get too personal with this and talk about my family and all that but y’all get the gist.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I make music by the name of Jace. I’m a rapper, songwriter, singer, graphic designer, etc. Recently a few weeks ago I shot a music video with my homies at Top Shelf Videos for a song of mine titled What’s Your Name (feat. CA$H CAM).

The song right now is at over 65k views so this music video could very well blow it up with the high production of it all. I’m just proud of how I evolved with my sound because when people hear me they can’t tell me anybody else I sound like.

That’s what I wanna be known for, being myself not being the next Drake or the next Wayne I wanna be the first and only me. My music is on Spotify, Apple Music, Soundcloud, etc.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was a crazy Lil kid I had raging ADHD so all my teachers hated me haha. I also have Tourette’s syndrome but I’ve learned how to handle it a Lil better when I was a kid that shit did not play around. I always knew I’d be a creator of some sort.

I’d go onto my grandpa’s computer and record videos of myself freestyling when I was like 6. I always had trouble focusing and staying out of trouble in school cause it just didn’t interest me and it still doesn’t while I’m currently in my senior year of high school.

I can’t work a 9-5 job it just isn’t in the plan for me this music shit is the reason I’m here and imma pursuing it till I’m gone.
