Daily Inspiration: Meet Giovanna Garcia-Tapia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Giovanna Garcia-Tapia.

Hi Giovanna, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I came to the United States when I was 12 years old, I’m originally from Mexico City. I’m a mom of two wonderful boys and soon-to-be a wife. I was a junior in high school when I decided to take a video editing class just for fun, little did I know that I was going to fall in love with it. In 2014 I worked as a video assistant for a photographer and then in 2019, I decided it was time for my own journey, I started doing event and business videos and eventually took photography courses to be able to do both.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Although it hasn’t always been easy, I’ve always had a great support system from my parents, my sister and my fiancé. From taking care of the kids while I work to coming with me to events to assist with heavy equipment.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I do photography and videos for any type of event. I’ve done quinceaneras, weddings, senior photo shoots, cake smash for little ones, engagement sessions, gender reveals, photos for menus, pregnancy silhouettes. I’ve done two tv commercials as well. It makes me proud that even though I’m not the most popular photographer around, many people recommend my work and to me that means that someone loved my work and felt comfortable with me enough to tell someone else about it. I go above and beyond to make sure my clients feel happy and comfortable.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Even though I love doing events and regular photoshoots, my dream is to one day be a KC Royals photographer.
