Daily Inspiration: Meet Emily Wimer

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Wimer.

Hi Emily, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Simplified KC was born from a collision of professional and personal passions. The result: a design-focused organizing company that focuses on simplifying spaces while elevating lifestyles.

My boys were born only 14 months apart and while they were young, I maintained my sanity by incorporating simple, functional solutions to invest in the organization of our family and home. The key to my success was embracing simplicity and establishing chic systems to regain order, which resulted in a life with beautifully organized chaos.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’ve been incredibly blessed that the Kansas City community has embraced Simplified KC with open arms. There are many local organizers to choose from and I had to pinpoint exactly what made me stand out from the others. While I work to create functional, easy-to-maintain systems, I take it to the next level by focusing on design. I believe that organization shouldn’t only be practical but should fit seamlessly into the aesthetic of your home. If it’s visually appealing, you’re more likely to take pride in your space and stay motivated to maintain it.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a professional organizer based in Overland Park, Kansas. I work with clients throughout the Kansas City area and virtually all over the country. I have an incredible passion for what I do, and it gives me such joy to help clients simplify and organize their favorite, necessary, and best so they can spend time on what’s most important.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
My tip for new clients: start small! Instead of trying to tackle a garage or basement storage project, which tends to be full of organization challenges, start with a linen closet or bathroom. Get used to purging items you no longer use, then sort them into categories. Lastly, put them into labeled containers. After you’ve completed a smaller space or two, work with a pro organizer to dive into your kitchen, storage room, or garage. Sky’s the limit!
