Daily Inspiration: Meet DJ Nuveau Tim Newton

Today we’d like to introduce you to DJ Nuveau Tim Newton.

Hi DJ Nuveau, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Always been really into music from playing the bass guitar and just being really into music. My brother-in-law took me to his friend‘s house who was a DJ. That friend had a studio and DJ equipment and allowed me to get in the studio and practice on the equipment. It was like manna from heaven for me because it was everything that I had been wanting to do that I had seen on the different music shows and videos.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not necessarily smooth sailing, you have the ups and downs of the business. Things that you think are going to go your way because of your hard work and dedication sometimes go a different way, a way that you didn’t really desire. One just has to push through and keep within a growth mindset knowing that the accomplishments of my passion to DJ matters not necessarily the validation. For the most part, I set out to dive into a profession where I can share with people and showcase the art of music to create a vibe anywhere that’s what I’m doing.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a DJ. I specialize in curating your listening pleasures via music. I do mixshows/sets.

I am known for not only my mixshow sets on the radio but the city’s largest monthly event – The Saturday Night Groove Party- the event brings in 1,000+ people each month.

I am a radio personality on 107.3 FM KJMK five days a week

What sets me apart from others is my love of turntablism – using turntables, scratching, mixing.

I am most proud of where I came from and the hustle and grind that I put in to get to where I am today. There have been a lot of firsts in my journey especially being a Black DJ in the city.

What matters most to you?
God, Family, Music It fuels me and the motivation to press on, break barriers, basically keep doing dope stuff.
