Today we’d like to introduce you to Destiny Freeman.
Hi Destiny, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey really happened out of a desire to create things I wished existed or to make things I couldn’t afford by figuring out how to do it myself. It started during my first house flip, where I leaned on skills and endless possibilities learned from my parents — everything from basic tools and techniques to resourceful problem-solving. That experience opened a door for me creatively, and I realized how much I loved turning raw ideas into something real and meaningful. Over time, I became the person who could wear all the hats! Painter, designer, visual artist, stylist, a true jack-of-all-trades. I’ve dabbled in everything from being a successful photographer to an aesthetician at local medical spas, but it was the self-taught, hands-on process of bringing ideas to life that I fell in love with. That passion eventually evolved into Atomic Blonde Co., my creative event company based in Kansas City. For the past five years, I’ve been focused on building experiences that are not only visually memorable but deeply personal, Whether it’s for a brand, a celebration, or just because someone had a wild idea they wanted to bring to life. I approach each project like it’s personal — because it is. And lately, I’ve been learning to be more open and share the why behind my work. Because for me, it’s never just about the visuals — it’s about the story, the hustle, and the creativity that connects us.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road and I don’t think it’s supposed to be. Following your dreams comes with a price, and sometimes that price is self-doubt, slow seasons, or even just the weight of figuring everything out on your own. Life happens. Mental health shifts over time, and honestly, there’s a deep loneliness that can come with carving your own path, especially when you’re pouring so much of yourself into your work.
There have been days when I questioned everything, wondering if I was good enough, if I was doing enough, or if it was even worth it. The creative world can be so fulfilling, but also really isolating when you’re building something that doesn’t have a clear blueprint.
But I’ve learned that those hard times are where resilience is built. I’ve leaned on my support system, which I’m so grateful for! They remind me of who I am when I forget. I’ve also found inspiration to keep going by hearing other people’s stories. They’ve reminded me that I’m not alone in the struggle and that the road may be bumpy, but it’s still leading somewhere beautiful.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I run Atomic Blonde Co., a creative event company in Kansas City, and it’s more than just a business — it’s also my identity as well as my lifestyle. Turning everyday spaces into unforgettable experiences reflects who I am. From custom backdrops to balloon installs, every moment is designed to spark connection and create lasting memories.
What drives me is the feeling we create through our visual work. Whether it’s an engagement, brand activation, or a “just because” celebration, we focus on making people feel something unforgettable. What also sets me apart is my ability to capture personality and incorporate that into designs, making people feel truly special. Life is short, and celebrating each milestone is something we can never get back, so why not celebrate life to its fullest?
I’m known for matching my outfits to the theme (head to toe!) and curating moments that leave people asking, “How did you do that?” It’s the details, the energy, and the unexpected touches that set us apart.
What I’m most proud of is my make-it-happen attitude. I welcome challenges, I go the extra mile, and I’m all about bringing the fun. Creating unforgettable moments isn’t just my job, it’s who I am.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
The most important quality to my success is purpose, paired with a deep commitment to always going the extra mile to make sure everything is perfect.. It’s what keeps me grounded and drives me to create something bigger than myself. I truly care about every project, and I always strive to exceed expectations because it reflects who I am.
When challenges come up, I return to my purpose, knowing that each step brings me closer to fulfilling the vision I’ve set. It’s that never-give-up attitude and the passion for creating something meaningful that fuels my work.
