Today we’d like to introduce you to Derek Niemann.
Hi Derek, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started 3D printing with 1 printer in 2024 as a hobby. And fell in love with what all you can create, my first project I made was a mandalorian helmet and rifle for my friends birthday gift. Then decided I wanted to start my own business and came up with the name Cosplay Forge Creations LLC. And with my injuries from combat in Iraq I figured owning my own business would be the best avenue for me to pick and choose events and my schedule that meets everything for me.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been a pretty smooth road setting up my business. But its all learning how to run a business and figuring out what the hot items are to make and have on hand.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I love making Cosplay items all custom. I have a natural talent airbrushing and hand painting organic lifelike items and also Star Wars Armor.. so far I would have to say my Mandalorian suit and a zombie hand controller holder im extremely proud of with my painting techniques.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
My goal is to have around 100 printers, to be making prot types for the amputee prosthetic field especially since being an amputee myself.
