Daily Inspiration: Meet Colin McIntyre

Today we’d like to introduce you to Colin McIntyre

Hi Colin, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My photography journey started unexpectedly one summer afternoon when I was handed an old camera at a family gathering. I was just fooling around, capturing random moments—the way the sunlight hit the leaves, a cousin laughing, the family dog running across the yard. But when I looked back at the photos, I realized I had frozen moments in time that carried so much emotion. That was the spark.

I started carrying my camera everywhere, experimenting with angles, lighting, and subjects. I remember a particular evening when I was trying to capture the perfect sunset. I waited for hours, watching the colors change in the sky, learning patience and the art of timing. That moment taught me that photography was more than just taking pictures—it was about observation, patience, and being present.

Over time, I learned to tell stories through my lens, finding beauty in everyday scenes that others might overlook. My favorite shoots often involve working with natural light, which keeps things spontaneous and authentic. Photography has become more than just a hobby; it’s my way of connecting with the world and capturing the emotions and moments that matter most. Each shot represents a piece of my journey and growth.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My photography journey hasn’t been a smooth road. Early on, I struggled with technical aspects like mastering manual settings and lighting. Frustration would set in when shots didn’t turn out how I envisioned. Finding my style also took time, as I grappled with self-doubt and comparing my work to others. Overcoming these challenges required patience and perseverance, but each struggle has helped refine my skills and shaped my unique approach to photography.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
In my work as a photographer, I specialize in agriculture photography, capturing the beauty, resilience, and stories of life on the farm. I focus on the people, animals, crops, and landscapes that define agriculture, often highlighting the connection between nature and hard work. I’m known for my ability to convey the authenticity of rural life, showcasing moments that might go unnoticed—the early morning light over a field, a farmer’s hands weathered from years of labor.

What I’m most proud of is my ability to tell the story of agriculture through my lens. My patience and attention to detail help me capture not only the aesthetics of the land but the spirit and dedication behind it. What sets me apart is my deep understanding of the agricultural world, which allows me to photograph it with authenticity and respect. Each shot reflects the perseverance of the people who work the land, giving viewers a true glimpse into the heart of farming.
