Today we’d like to introduce you to Christine Tran.
Hi Christine, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was born and raised in Kansas City. I am 19 years old. I grew up being the only child. I had a fantastic childhood, and my parents ensured I was well cared for. My parents have always wanted the best for me and are my number one supporters in everything I do. I started going to public elementary school, but once I got into middle and high school, I went to private schools, and that’s where I truly believe I found the true inner me. The reason is that I was timid and an introvert. So, being in a private school, there were fewer students, and I felt more comfortable being a part of a smaller crowd. I opened up more to people as I got into private schools because an environment that made me feel comfortable truly made me more confident. As I built confidence in myself, I saw that it changed my work ethic, and I could connect with more people to help me pursue my dream.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, has it been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I am lucky and blessed to say it has been a smooth road. Everything happened when it was supposed to.
I appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My mom opened a nail salon after she gave birth to me, and I’ve always been in a nail salon all my life. I’ve always had a passion for nails. I remember being just 3 years old and already had my nails done. I’ve always loved getting my nails done but have not seen myself as a nail tech. I love the creative side of nails, such as the designs and the fun side of doing nails. Starting at 15 years old, I started gaining interest in it, and I began to practice more and more just for the fun of it and not thinking that I would make a living out of it. Every day after school, I would practice as a hobby. Then, after I graduated high school, I knew for sure I wanted to go to college and I’m currently majoring in Business but because I don’t want to work for others I decided to go to cosmotology school to get licensed for me to also pursue my dream in my nail career. And now I am licensed in both Kansas and Missouri. Then I started posting on Instagram, showing my work, and in less than a year, I had grown to over 5 thousand followers and had built a whole clientele for myself. I am studying business in college currently. Although I will always have a passion for nails, I started my journey in real estate. My view as a nail tech is more of a stepping stone for my dream career in the real estate industry. I decided to take real estate courses and have Kansas and Missouri Real estate licenses. Real estate has always interested me because home to me is the most crucial place to be. That’s where all memories begin. Although everyone is unique and different in every way, everyone values their home the same, and that’s where loved ones gather. And family is the most important thing to me. So, I want to help others find a home where they can build their memories and find a place they can call theirs, and I can be a part of it and help find their happiness. I am trying to overcome all the obstacles early in life; that way, I can pursue my dream after college.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that things take time. When things happen, it happens when it’s supposed to. Don’t force things; just let it come naturally. I’ve learned that it will only turn out how you’d like if it’s the right time. Be patient and trust the process.
