Daily Inspiration: Meet Chris Allen

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Allen.

Chris Allen

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I am a versatile independent Singer-Songwriter and Model native to South Kansas City. I have always know that I had a gift for the arts. I started taking music seriously in High School when I entered into the Musical Bridges Program through the Conservatory of University of Missouri – Kansas City, being Classically trained. My love for music evolved through the years leading me to a deeply found passion in Worship at the age of 19. Later that developed into my pursuit to becoming an Independent Artist and exploring the technique of other genres. As my artistry has grown over the year my sound has evolved into a unique blend of contemporary Christian music, gospel, jazz, and hip-hop with undertones from my classical background . With my music I am continuously looking for ways to push the boundaries of Christian music, while continuously making strides in the Christian music scene. In 2022 I decided to venture into the world of Fashion and Creative Marketing, fusing both my love for music and fashion by starting my own LLC. I believe my brand is not only redefining the boundaries of style and creativity but also inspiring and motivating others. As I continue sharing my creative expression my hope is to make a lasting impact on the world through music, fashion, and my unwavering passion and authenticity.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My journey has not always been smooth. Like many of other artist I have been faced with digging through all the “NOs” to get to the “YESs” along the way. This has for sure challenged my resilience and my will to be persistent. Also, I find within the fashion world there is limited representation of full figured male models. Though the industry is evolving in this area it is a slow process which sometimes can pose its own challenges can challenge the mind and leave limited opportunities. But just like many others like me, I am pushing through those challenges because when the opportunities do open up they are so worth it.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
In the creative world I am known as Chris August or just August. In the past I have been known for being a Worship Leader. However, as my brand continues growth I am becoming known as a Independent Artist and Model and have made a name for myself within the Kansas City music and fashion communities.

As an Independent Artist I am grateful that God continues to open up opportunities for me to wholeheartedly express my creativity, while also having a lasting impact on others searching for their own voices. I am deeply humbled but yet proud that anything I have done through music or fashion has had an impact on others.

I feel what makes me stand out is my unique training in music, and my passion to be authentically me. This also drives my ambition to just show up in this world and become everything I was purposed to be.
