Daily Inspiration: Meet Cheryl Rucker

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cheryl Rucker.

Hi Cheryl, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
After years of planning and scouting out spaces; my business opened October 9, 2022. We just celebrated our 3rd year Anniversary. I started my business because I love to see people enjoying themselves and having a good time. “It’s Always a Good time to Celebrate”. We are an all occasion event venue that can accommodate up to 100 people. We are available for all social, corporate or business events. With the rental, we offer tables, chairs, black or white table cloths and black or white chair covers. We have a full warming kitchen. We also offer a table decor package for a fee. There are (4) TV’s, however cable service is not included. There is always a onsite day of event coordinator to answer any questions or to be available if something regarding the event venue is needed. You are welcome to use any caterer of your choice or we have a vendors list that you can choose from. If you choose to have alcohol at your event, you must use our onsite licensed bartender. Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There are plenty of event spaces to choose from in the area, with that being said some of the struggles have been staying consistently booked. As a event space owner, I have to prepare and plan for the times when the venue is not booked by having my own events or being financially prepared to pay the rent. That has been one of my biggest struggles.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Besides owning and operating my event venue, I am employed full time. I am a Senior Property Manager. I oversee and manage the day to day of (2) townhome communities.

I am not new to being a entrepreneur, I previously owed and operated a Hair Salon and Day Spa for 17 years when I resided in Atlanta, GA.

I love planning, designing, creating and seeing the finished product. I am most proud of being able to start businesses and making them sustainable.

I am a dedicated business professional, and an effective communicator and great listener. Communication and follow up in a timely manner is the key to a successful business. I made sure that all rules and regulations are clearly written and explained to help eliminate any misunderstanding or confusion about what is expected, when utilizing the event space.

How do you think about happiness?
What makes me happy, is enjoying my life doing the things that like to do and spending time with my family, friends and associates. I also enjoy seeing other have a good time without incident. With so much going on in the days and times in which we live, we all need a little joy, excitement and happiness.
