Daily Inspiration: Meet Cameron Brigham

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cameron Brigham

Hi Cameron, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started my passion for photography when I was about 10 years old and asked for my first camera for Christmas. I was the only family member capturing special moments with my family at the time. It was therapeutic for me from the start. Then in high school my close friends and I started creating skits with the camcorder I purchased and I realized I loved cinematography as well. But it wasn’t until the pandemic started that I started taking my passion more seriously. I made a couple skits that went viral and it encouraged me to learn to use cameras, editing, lighting, and etc on a professional level. Which led to me purchasing my first camera at the end of 2020. I started taking landscape, cityscape, and street photography photos almost everyday and reading a new photography book every week. I practiced on my kids whenever I wanted to focus on portraiture. Then in mid 2021 I was ready to start doing it professionally so I started my business CLB PHOTOGRAPHY LLC. I’ve now had my work published in 2 magazines and was a finalist for Best Photographer at The Kansas City People’s Choice Awards. I’m currently putting focus back on cinematography and trying to educate myself on all of the aspects of motion pictures so I can make my first short film.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s hasn’t been smooth but it hasn’t been a lot of struggles either. Working a full time job, part time job, running a business, taking care of my mother, and being a very active father all at the same time has been a struggle mentally and at times I wanted to just give up. It’s been a lot of days with no rest, no sleep. Then the imposter syndrome has made me doubt myself at times. Wondering if I deserved to make it to this point. But God always finds a way to tell me yes I deserve to be here.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My biggest passions are street photography, and landscape photography but I’d say I’m known for my candid style portraits and studio portraits the most. I think my specialty is capturing the essence of who people are. I’ve always been a people person and it’s a very useful tool when it comes to seeing those moments of real raw beauty and emotion from people. I’m most proud of my kids getting to see me grow in my field and see my work appreciated by many. I’ve been at my job 20 years and haven’t received the amount of love and gratitude that I have with my business in 4 years. They’re really proud of me and I’m proud of that. I’d say my eye and my heart sets me apart from others. I first see what moves me emotionally and then I map out my shots from their. Also I love dramatic lighting, so often I play with high contrast in my work, rich shadows in my work.
