Today we’d like to introduce you to Brooke Hinders.
Hi Brooke, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have always loved fitness, but I grew an even deeper love for it when I walked through the doors of Orangetheory. I tried my first class in the summer of 2019 and have been with the company ever since. I started as a member but eventually grew into a role behind the front desk as a Sales Associate. After selling the product I believed in so much from experience, I decided what better way than to coach it myself! I then trained to become a personal trainer through the American Council of Excercise and an Orangetheory Coach. I spent over a year learning and growing in that role, so much so that. I was offered a position as Head Coach! I am currently the Head Coach of Orangetheory Fitness in Downtown Kansas City and could not be happier to call this place “work.”
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road. I had to study for my training certification while enrolled as a full-time college student and a part-time employee. I learned how to prioritize the most there, especially when all of my peers didn’t have to. But those skills have been stuck with me ever since, and I am very grateful for it!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am the Head Coach of Orangetheory Fitness Downtown Kansas City. Orangetheory Fitness is a 1-hour full-body workout tracked by technology, backed by science, and led by a certified personal trainer. The class consists of treadmills, water-rowers, and a weight floor while being directed by a coach on a microphone. As a coach, I specialize in large group training and am known for my energy and positivity on the microphone. I am most proud of my ability to gain members’ trust as the youngest coach in my studio or region.
Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I am 100% supportive of taking risks. I was always told, “if you don’t jump, you won’t know if you can fly,” and I don’t know if there is anything more true than that! Growing up, I was a competitive cheerleader and took the risk of moving across the country for a well-known team. Although it was scary, I won two World Championships with that team. Similarly, with my job, I decided to move to Kansas City, and I am now learning that I can fly in the role of Head Coach. I think risks will always be scary, but it’s scarier having to look back and think, “what if.”
